All four former officers involved in George Floyd's killing now face charges

CNN)The former Minneapolis Police officer who pressed his knee into George Floyd's neck was charged with second-degree murder and the three other officers on scene during his killing were charged with aiding and abetting, according to court documents. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison's official announcement of the charges is expected to come Wednesday afternoon, more than a week after Floyd was killed while in police custody in Minneapolis. The killing has sparked nationwide protests that call for the end to police violence against black citizens. Derek Chauvin, who had his knee pressed into Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, had previously been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The new second-degree murder charge says that he killed Floyd "without intent to effect the death of any person, while committing or attempting to commit a felony offense ... namely assault in the third degree," according to an amended complaint. Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Keung, who helped restrain Floyd, and Tou Thao, who stood near the others, were not initially charged. Lane, 37, Kueng, 26, and Thao, 34, are now charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.

Just don’t overcharge, especially on that upgrade to 2nd degree murder. you’re going to have to convince a 12-person jury of guilt.

The mob won’t be satisfied until the trial is skipped and we go straight to the punishment phase.

This is the muzzlime racist AG Keith Ellison trying for overkill, just to show his hatred for the cops and for other races. He has about as much business being AG as a snake has for guarding rabbit hutches.

Do you think there is anyone in America who won't convict these cops? Which begs the question, how fair will their trial be?

Normally, I feel that overcharging is a way to coerce a plea deal. But in this case, I'd guess they're all going to take it all the way to trial.

The prosecution needs the other cops to testify against Chauvin.

https://statelaws.findlaw.com/minnesota-law/minnesota-second-degree-murder.html

Minnesota law prohibits intentional and unintentional killings under most circumstances. Those killings prohibited as second-degree murder include:

*Killing a human intentionally, but without premeditation (not thinking about or preparing for before)
*Killing a human while committing or attempting a drive-by shooting
*Causing someone’s death without intending the death of anyone, while committing a felony other than criminal sexual conduct (rape or sexual assault which would be first-degree murder) or a drive-by shooting
*Causing a death unintentionally, while intentionally inflicting or attempting to inflict great physical harm on the victim when the murderer is currently restrained by a protection order (including for domestic violence, harassment, divorce, or any similar protection order) and the victim was the protected party in that order

Third-degree murder in Minnesota is causing someone’s death by one of two ways:

*A depraved heart or mind murder, which places others in eminent danger of death and disregarding human life (such as shooting a gun into a crowd for fun, but not intending to kill anyone)
*Causing someone’s death by selling, giving away, or administering a Schedule I or II controlled substance (such as selling someone adulterated heroin that kills them)
------------------

Second degree might be a stretch

No offense to the asshole who wouldn’t take his knee off the perp, but the upshot of this is that police in your community will NOT detain perps of color. Read Marx and Engels: No response, no policing, no law, no order: Just how commies like it to foment anarchy, misery, and revolution.

I’m calling it now...

Keith Ellison’s intent is to get the cops acquitted, just to provoke more riots.

You heard it here first.

Me. Certainly not with the evidence shown so far.

I’ll give it more thought in the months to come as the investigations continue and facts emerge.

Also while I am driving through the burned remains of Minneapolistan and wonder why this ghetto trash pretends to be so outraged when Saint George dies but they don’t care about all the white people they kill.

“what the hell were the other officers supposed to do against the SENIOR officer??”

Tell him to stop it, that’s what. No one is obligated to follow orders they reasonably believe to be illegal. That was covered quite thoroughly in my training for the USMC way back in the day.

We were taught that following an illegal order made us just as guilty as whoever gave that illegal order.

“I was just following orders“ hasn’t cut it since Nuremberg.
