A Boulder County jury convicted Dynel Lane on all counts Tuesday â including attempted murder â in the vicious attack that left an expectant Longmont mother fighting for her life and claimed her unborn child.
After seven hours of deliberation over two days, the jury found Lane guilty of attempted first-degree murder, two counts each of first- and second-degree assault, and unlawful termination of a pregnancy.
Michelle Wilkins, the 27-year-old who lost her unborn daughter in the March 18 attack, hugged her father as the guilty verdict was read, bringing the weeklong trial to an end and closing a pivotal chapter in one of the most high-profile Boulder County criminal cases of recent years.

jeez...I have family in Longmont, it used to be this prosperous town where people could live near the mountains without the problems of Denver and Boulder...
How could it not have been pre-meditated? I mean, come on. Did she even have baby clothes to sell?

This kind of thing actually happens pretty regularly: a woman who is infertile, but who feigns pregnancy and then when it comes time to deliver the goods, schemes to attack and possibly kill a real pregnant woman to obtain her baby.

Killing the baby was murder. Colorado law needs a lot of work.
