Faulty work done at Robins Air Force Base in Houston County is being blamed for a military plane crash that killed 16 service members in 2017, an investigation found. On July 10, 2017, a U.S. Marine Corps KC-130 Hercules crashed near Itta Bena, Miss., killing the 15 Marines and a U.S. Navy sailor who were on board, AJC.com previously reported. “The aircraft involved in the mishap had launched from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni and were conducting regularly scheduled training when the mishap occurred.” A total of seven personnel were believed to be on board the two aircraft, according to ABC News’ Elizabeth McLaughlin. Five Canadian Air Force fighter jets have been forced to land at Shannon Airport after experiencing technical problems while refuelling over the Atlantic. The five F-18s were en route from Saragossa in Spain to an Air Force base in Canada and were due to refuel in mid air from a KC 130 tanker. However, the refuelling drone on the back of the tanker failed to deploy and was unable to dock with the planes. All five landed at Shannon shortly before 1pm for refuelling.
