Former state Rep. Jeffrey Perry has been hired to become a Barnstable County "special sheriff" after his failed bid to capture the congressional seat for Cape Cod, the Herald has learned. Perry, a former police officer and longtime public safety advocate, will earn $110,000 a year to work under James Cummings, the Barnstable County Sheriff.
