When Sen. Scott Brown staged his surprise special election win in January, he relied heavily on Massachusetts' 10th Congressional District.
Now the GOP is targeting the district the state's only open congressional seat this year as one of its best chances in New England to pick up one of the 39 seats the party needs to gain control of the U.S. House.
Democrats are equally intent on holding the district, which stretches from Quincy to Cape Cod. They say they've learned from Brown's upset.

Still, as the Sept. 14 primary approaches, the GOP has reasons for optimism in the district the late Sen. Edward Kennedy called home for most of his life.
For one, it's the only House race in Massachusetts with no Democratic incumbent, with Rep. William Delahunt retiring after seven terms. It's also home to large numbers of older, conservative-leaning voters worried about the impact of the economic downturn on their life savings. About 60 percent of voters in the district cast ballots for Brown.
Vying for the Republican nomination are state Rep. Jeffrey Perry, of Sandwich.......

Perry has touted his authorship of a budget amendment designed to crack down on illegal immigrants who receive public benefits. He was also one of only two Beacon Hill lawmakers who voted against a universal health care law championed by former Republican Gov. Mitt Romney.
Unabashedly conservative, Perry hasn't shied away from the tea party, attending an April rally featuring Sarah Palin on Boston Common that Brown skipped.
"The thing I love about the tea party is that they are very politically active but they are not politically affiliated," said Perry. "They are just a group of people who share values and they are trying to move the country toward those values."

While serving in the MA State House, before considering any legislation, Perry asks himself if he has the right and authority to enact such a piece of legislation, if it is good for his constituents and if it is good for Massachusetts.

Perry is the most conservative candidate with a chance for a major seat in Mass since Calvin Coolidge was governor. Perry’s been my rep in the state legislature for years and he has been very good.
Joe Malone, running against Perry in the GOP primary, has gone dirty, mailing out sleazy insinuations against Perry.
Joe: Please ping your 2nd Amendment & Florida List.
Here’s a candidate that all conservatives should want in Congress.....
NRA Political Victory Fund Supports Jeff Perry for Congress
Endorsement signifies recognition of Perry’s record of voting for 2nd Amendment issues
SANDWICH The Jeff Perry for Congress campaign announced today that The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Jeff Perry for election to the U.S. House of Representatives in the September 14 Republican Primary.
“Jeff Perry’s strong commitment to preserving our hunting and shooting heritage has earned him the NRA-PVF’s endorsement,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. “Jeff was a proven leader on gun owners’ and sportsmen’s rights in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and I know he will continue to fight for and protect the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding gun owners at the federal level.”
During Perry’s tenure in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, he cosponsored the Mass. Firearm Regulation Reform legislation to eliminate some of the current draconian regulations that exist in the Commonwealth. He also supported Senate Bill 2367 which represented the greatest set of firearm law reforms since the passage of the Commonwealth’s worst-in-the-nation gun laws. In addition, he supported the Precision Sports Legislative Reform bill that would protect the rights of target shooters in the Commonwealth, and voted for a bill to reduce firearm license fees.
“Gun owners in Massachusetts value their Second Amendment freedoms, and Jeff Perry is the clear choice to represent them,” Cox concluded. “We ask all gun-owners, hunters and NRA members in Massachusetts’ Tenth Congressional District to vote Jeff Perry for Congress on September 14.”
Exactly right, Paine. That’s why I’m urging all FReepers to help elect Jeff Perry.....with a small (or large) contribution:

And BTW Malone has no record to run on so resorts to sleaze and mud slinging despite the millions stolen by people he appointed during his watch of state money.
Perry is running on the issues and will not get in the gutter with Malone.
Every single seat is up for grabs this November and every single conservative and republican should fight tooth and nail for them and if they do that and tell the truth, they can win.
FL Freeper Friends....Here’s candidate we should help send to Congress. He’s running in the MA 10th District, where the Kennedy Klan resides.
He’s got Tea Party and RNCC backing and a good chance to become the second Republican elected to Washington by Massachusetts voters.
Please take a look at his website and do what you are able to help... http://www.JeffPerryforCongress.com
Mass Ping!
Julie, I’m not sure about the rest of the races here in Mass but I think Perry has been running a good campaign.
Thanks for the PING
Adding a few myself....
Similar action in the 5th. Mostly Meas going negative; Golnik staying above the fray.
Perry has stayed out of the gutter - the same gutter malone is sloshing around in trying to get perry to join him - heard a debate the other day between the both of them and malone still hasn’t learned the lesson - he really didn’t want to discuss the issues - he just kept trying to drag perry into the gutter with him - reminded me of mihos during the last gov race where all he wanted to do was rant and rave about muffy.
Perry has a lot of problems. His past as a police officer, his fake degree, none of which Malone brought up. The media brought those issues up.
Either one is fine with me to be honest. I believe the GOP has candidates running in each district, something that hasn’t happened in decades.
I’m hopeful.
Yes, Sparky...Jeff Perry has a great grassroots organization with three campaign offices in Sandwich, Plymouth and Quincy.
Here’s the link to his volunteer social network website called Perry’s Patriots. I’m one of hundreds of volunteers making calls, canvassing and placing signs for his campaign.

Bill Gunn(R)for US Congress
Running against Congressman John Olver(D)1st District MA
Conservative & Tea Party Candidate
Malone pisses and moans about it all the time - he’s been on with Jeff Katz and with Howie Carr and both times all he did was drag perry through the mud - he was just on with Katz the other day and would not stick to the issues - when he was on with Howie - Howie actually ended the interview because Malone would not discuss the issues -
interesting the GOP is now in protect the most potential RINOs.
I used to like Malone but he’s just pathetic now - time for him to retire to the golf course.
interesting the GOP is now in protect the most potential RINOs.
***************************
Not in the 10th race.....the RNCC has added Jeff Perry to the list of GOP ‘young guns’....just like candidate Lt. Col. Allen West in FL.
