Black Residents in Jasper, TX are stepping up and speaking out against CNN and the New York Times. The Former Police Chief, Rodney Pearson, was fired and the City Council members who hired him were recalled. Pearson is black. Open Records Request documents show that the City of Jasper in East Texas has been hit hard financially as a result of the City Council's black member majority hiring Rodney Pearson as the new police chief in a backroom deal. The decision seems to be based solely on the fact that Pearson is black. Pearson was one of the least qualified and even had a criminal record.
