Live interviews are rare on Iranian state television, for obvious reasons. Going off-script means there's a chance to evade the censors, which give the audience only the version of the news that is approved by authorities. Yet, live interviews are, indeed, aired on some Iranian news channels, which can lead to problems, as an anchor with the News Network channel experienced recently while interviewing a Kabul-based analyst. I just saw a 60 Min II special on a U.S. based Iranian TV Station based in California that is broadcasting into Iran. They helped organize the 9/11 U.S. support (candlelight vigil) two nights running in which the Iranians were beaten for their support. They make fun of the Mullahs and are also helping to organize and support the resistance in Iran, but they need our help. They get no government funding (go figure the one place it would be useful) and are a donation and subscription based group. So I plan to donate and hope you’ all will to.
