In a recent trio of posts to X, Elon Musk wrote that (1) illegal immigrants “are not prevented from voting in federal elections,” (2) “you don’t need government issued ID to vote,” and (3) Democrats “are importing voters.” To rebut those statements, the New York Times published an article by Jim Rutenberg and Kate Conger claiming that Musk is “spreading election misinformation” about “illegal voting by noncitizens” and echoing a “conspiracy theory” spread by Donald Trump. While Musk’s words are imprecise, the gist of what he wrote is correct, and the Times is categorically wrong.

Last month champions of freedom around the world celebrated the 30th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall. The significance of that landmark event of the last century endures today. It is a reminder that, while totalitarianism and government-sponsored repression can still take root, the will of resilient and brave people can ultimately win. The spirit of those courageous Germans from 1989, singing at the wall and knocking it down with sledgehammers, is alive today in America. People in unlikely places are standing up against onerous sanctuary laws that their political leaders are trying to foist upon them. Evidence...

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is calling for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to be abolished, saying that the agency has "become a punitive, negative tool for division," and is "no longer acceptable." In calling for the agency to be disbanded, de Blasio echoed comments made by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a political newcomer who vanquished Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) in a Democratic primary race on Tuesday. "You need some kind of agency to deal with immigration, but ICE is not that," de Blasio said on "The Brian Lehrer Show" on WYNC. "ICE has proven it can't be that. ICE's...

The Obama Democrats have an audacious scheme for winning future elections. They just plan to import 5 million non-citizens and credential them as voters who will, in gratitude, vote Democratic. The way this devious formula works is stunningly simple. Just get the new Republican Congress (under Speaker John Boehner and Sen. Mitch McConnell) to pass a full-funding bill for Homeland Security without any exception for the funding of Obama's illegal executive amnesty, which will allow Obama to give work permits, Social Security numbers and driver's licenses to 5 million illegal aliens.

Months after Prince William County began one of the country's toughest crackdowns on illegal immigrants, officials and residents report signs that substantial numbers of people have left the county, particularly from Hispanic neighborhoods. Dave Whitlow, town manager of Dumfries, said officials started noticing the change a few months ago when they canvassed communities popular among Hispanic families and found roughly 165 residences vacant among 1,600 houses and town houses. Shopkeepers and teachers of English as a second language also have noticed a drop-off. "We are having many more leaving," said Mr. Whitlow, who could not estimate what percentage of those...

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, and the table...everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my...

RUSH: Condoleezza Rice was officially sworn in today at the State Department, and President Bush was there. She was sworn in, by the way, by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and the president had some interesting things to say to the State Department staff on the day after Condi threw down the gauntlet to the State Department staff, and I would like for you to hear what President Bush said. We have three bites. The first bite here, he rattles the liberals and the State Department bureaucrats by declaring that freedom is on the march. PRESIDENT BUSH: On Sunday,...

PHOENIX - Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano has asked a federal judge for permission to sign a voter-passed immigration initiative, despite the issuance of a temporary restraining order blocking its implementation. The governor's office filed a motion Friday in U.S. District Court in Tucson asking Judge David C. Bury to allow her to issue a proclamation making Proposition 200 law. The Arizona Constitution requires her to declare as law the measure, which would mandate proof of citizenship for voter registration and proof of residency status for some government services. Napolitano had planned to sign the proclamation last week, but she said...
