Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's campaign against DEI has affected one aspect of Air Force life after another. Government-funded observances of Black History Month, National Hispanic Heritage Month and other cultural awareness events were canceled. Coursework and videos that celebrated diversity, equity and inclusion were stripped from the basic training curriculum at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. Tributes to pathbreaking Black aviators and other notable minorities were removed from military websites. Jobs, contracts and trainings that promoted diversity were eliminated. Now, however, the Air Force is walking back one element of the DEI purge. U.S. job openings rose unexpectedly in January, underscoring a resilient labor market that continues to defy pessimistic forecasts about the impact of President Donald Trump’s economic policies. Job openings climbed to 7.74 million in January, up from a revised 7.51 million in December, according to data released Tuesday by the Labor Department’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS). The increase surpassed economists’ expectations of 7.6 million openings. The increase in openings was driven primarily by gains in the real estate, construction, retail, manufacturing, and financial sectors, suggesting continued strength in key areas of the economy. Despite widespread media speculation...

Amid Friday afternoon’s heat, the five posh floors of Saks Fifth Avenue in San Francisco’s Union Square offered a cool elegance that belied the jarring news from the day before: the store is transitioning to an appointment-only model and laying off staff. What will it feel like to go on pre-arranged shopping trips inside a sprawling department store? That is an open question for customers and staffers. As part of the transition slated for Aug. 28, the store will lay off an unspecified number of employees, according to the Chronicle, which first reported the changes. The news comes at a...

The anti-Israel tent encampment at Columbia University is being led by a cohort of controversial student leaders — some of whom express solidarity with Hamas and say “Zionists don’t deserve to live.” These students are the ones negotiating directly with leaders of the Ivy League university — holding campus hostage with dozens of tents and hundreds of protesters splayed out on the lawn in Morningside Heights. One of the most prominent faces in the protest camp is Khymani James, a spokesperson for Columbia United Apartheid Divest, which is demanding that the university divest from any company that does business with...

Unemployment may be low, jobs plentiful, and consumer spending holding up. However, consumers are still struggling with the rising cost of credit card debt, housing, and automobiles—expenses that defy easy solutions. However, managing the cost of groceries and other essentials, the leading expense for half the respondents in a recent TD Bank survey, is just a click or short drive away. As consumers pull back on discretionary spending, major retailers in the grocery business are doubling down on the power of private-label brands to build traffic and loyalty. The boom is on. Amazon, which owns Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh,...

Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham or seemingly any prime time host would be fine with the Florida Governor. Gov. Ron DeSantis deserves credit for consistency, calling on yet another Fox News host to help shore up his presidential campaign by hosting a debate. “If you want to do other debates, Nikki Haley and me, I’m in. Donald Trump and me, I’m in. So just say the word. You’ve shown that you can do it in a way that I think really helps the voter. So I’m game, just let me know,” DeSantis told Sean Hannity. DeSantis benefited late last month from...

This is a public service announcement! Check your drawers for any Samsung (or different brand) phones that aren't in use, as they are a potential fire hazard! In case you follow the smartphone industry, particularly on YouTube and Twitter, you'd know that there have been recent reports of Samsung phones that are … "blowing up", or at least about to. Despite trying, in the end Samsung wasn't able to handle the Note 7 battery crisis. The company recalled the defective phones and released a fresh batch of Note 7s (after having changed its battery supplier). The issues persisted, and the...

A mom is mystifying TikTok after sharing her easy life hack for making homemade popcorn. The trick, which essentially recreates bagged, store-bought popcorn in just two minutes, comes courtesy of a user named Megan (@mmmorgan20). In her viral clip, she shows how she’s been making her kids homemade popcorn “for years.”“Homemade popcorn the easy way,” she captioned her video.Viewers were largely blown away, with many commenting that they’d always assumed there was some sort of “special ingredient” in store-bought popcorn that helped it pop in the bag. However, as Megan’s video shows, that’s not the case. The mom starts by dumping a...

I hate to say I told you so. But I told you so. I'm one of the few brave souls in the American media who warned and advised from day one (back in early March 2020) not to lock down the American people or the economy. I argued the following: That lockdowns wouldn't stop COVID-19, because you can't stop a virus. That there was never a reason to lock down everyone. Anyone relatively young or healthy never had a reason to fear death from COVID. The survival rate has been reported at 99%, especially for anyone relatively healthy under the...

President Trump signed an executive order declaring a national emergency in the mining industry, ordering the Interior Department to increase domestic production of rare-earth materials to reduce the country’s dependence on China. The order states, “our Nation’s undue reliance on critical minerals, in processed or unprocessed form, from foreign adversaries constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat, which has its source in substantial part outside the United States, to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States. I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.” The US imported 80 percent of its rare-earth materials and...

It is no exaggeration to compare the COVID vaccine rollout to a Keystone Cops movie. When people spend hours frantically trying to find a website to register for vaccination while unused vials of it are discarded by day’s end, it doesn’t take a Sherlock Holmes to detect that something is wrong with the system. Part of the problem rests with efforts to prioritize vaccinations based upon individuals’ health status. Although it may intuitively — and perhaps ethically — make medical sense to inoculate people who are most likely to become seriously ill if infected, the nearly impossible logistics of doing...

Those who believe that George Floyd was "killed" by the cops need to understand something. I found this little tidbit while looking up some COVID stats:This Article explains how a technique called "proning" is helping COVID patients with their breathing problems. What it is? It's simply putting a person on their stomach and turning their head to the side. In this way it allows them to breathe easier. From the article:Why does proning work? Flipping a patient on their stomach helps respiration because “oxygenation (getting more oxygen into the blood) is easier in the prone position," says Dr. Stewart. It's...

I received word from 2ndDivisionVet wife that he passed away. I am not using his real name here out of respect but, will ping his handle and his wife can if she would like. I didn't ask what he died from but, knowing him for better than 10 years, I knew of medical conditions and a few terrible Operations he had. He was a wonderful human being who cared deeply for his fellow Americans and the ideals that make this country so great that people the world over want to come here and be free, live in liberty and be...

I just updated to Oreo OS on my gorgeous Samsung Galaxy S8 and them sum beeches at Google changed all my icons to some book chit with frames and there is zero possibility to change back to original theme and icons. They also effed my texts and a few other things. I can't stand this cartoonish theme buttons! They are for 4-7 year olds and took my very professional looking phone down to etch-a-sketch looking crap. Rant off... I will upgrade to iPhone on my birthday and Samsung/Google can go to hell... Wasted quite a bit of money upgrading to...
