Back door prep for digital IDs
Seems like the legal thing to do. Federal law already forbids illegal aliens from having bank accounts as that is aiding them.
Why is this not done?
They have to collect my Driver’s license and SSN, because patriot act.
Expect to see a lot of money launderers, illegal aliens, and dead people closing or abandoning accounts.
They don’t mention legal immigrants, I assume having a green card will validate bank accounts.
I lived overseas for a bit. I couldn’t open a bank account without several forms of ID and a couple of government documents. Couldn’t even get a money order. Remember those?

This is a genius move that will debank illegals and send them scurrying home. As a Floridian with a Real ID driver’s license, my citizenship was verified long ago.
The Left will try to make hay out of this. I agree with the prospect, similar to the old California attack on Smokers, but I need to think this through. My parents were horrible smokers and I couldn’t stand it, but I always worried that, “today it’s them and tomorrow, it’s me”. What will either Party do in response?

They could simply fine the shit out of any bank providing services illegal but that would put the burden on the banks rather than the consumers
