This is what happens when you quit coffee for just two weeks: Scientists reveal surprising effects on stress, sleep and memory

Quitting coffee for just two weeks may make people less impulsive and less stressed, and switching to decaf could improve sleep and memory, a study suggests.

Scientists tracked 62 healthy adults to examine how coffee affects the body and brain. The group included 31 regular coffee drinkers and 31 people who did not drink coffee.

They found regular coffee drinkers experienced more impulsive behaviour and emotional reactivity than people who did not drink coffee.

The trial was relatively small, involving only 62 people.

I’m going to wait until next weeks to stop, when coffee will again be good for you.

Might be a good thing if you could stand green tea. Sorry, I’m a coffee drinker. As far sleep, I have good nights & some not-so-good, but I can usually point to what could have caused it.

I grew up in the South in the 50s. No air conditioning.

Coffee saved us from becoming idiots.

Or did it.;-)

Morning coffee, i rarely have more than two or three before noon. Pots that is! I sleep a solid six hours a nite, have done so for 30 years or so. Normally get a half hour nap around 1:00 pm. There is no point in sleeping away your life. Coffee is just good. I like warpath brand.

Ah! How sweet coffee tastes,
more delicious than a thousand kisses,
milder than muscatel wine.

Coffee, I have to have coffee,
and, if someone wants to pamper me,
ah, then bring me coffee as a gift!

Great meme.

I have almost nothing now and to lose coffee would be a stunning blow. The mild natural anti-depressant in coffee gives me what little ,sort of, happiness I have, at times.

RE: more impulsive behaviour and emotional reactivity

My immediate impulse and emotional reaction is to tell the nosy researcher to screw off and leave us alone. Now.

And as to memory, without coffee I am so dull witted and drowsy that I have no memory left and want to just sit there.

65 years old and don’t drink coffee! Used to drink a diet Coke or 2 every day and quit that about 4 or 5 years ago. So now, nothing.

Same offer was made when Sydney Sweeny was created. She was told she could have two cups.
