Delegate Chris Hurst (D-12) was pulled over in traffic Monday night and notified that his license was suspended. He was pulled over after a Radford deputy saw a woman turning over and messing with campaign signs at the Radford Rec. Center, an election polling precinct. The deputy then saw the woman get in a car. When the deputy did a traffic stop and requested assistance from a Radford police officer, the driver of the car was identified as Hurst. The woman’s name has not been released. The officer took a statement from the deputy and confirmed damage to several political...

The Chinese strategy, one expert said, is basically to let Trump bluster and then resume talking with more serious administration officials. NEW YORK - The Chinese were not surprised by President Donald Trump's threats to impose more tariffs on their goods, several experts said Monday - they just assumed it was Trump being Trump. “I am not sure how literally Trump’s threat is being taken in Beijing, but he has articulated essentially the same threat before,” William Hurst, a Northwestern University political science professor and an expert on Chinese politics and legal institutions, wrote in an email to NBC News....

Students called 911 after a professor at Tarrant County College in Hurst, Texas, allegedly acted strangely and ranted about Islam, according to a KDFW-TV report. What happened? Daniel Mashburn, an adjunct professor at the TCC Northeast campus, arrived for his astronomy class 20 minutes late wearing a baseball cap, a toboggan hat, a scarf over his face, and black gloves, students told KDFW-TV. Mashburn turned off the classroom lights and began babbling about the Koran, the moon, and “the dark night,” according to students. At one point, Mashburn stood facing the classroom blackboard and was just talking to the board,...

Taxpayers should not have to pay for private political events such as the one attended by Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday outside Aspen, the sheriffs of Pitkin and Garfield counties said. “It’s uncalled for,” said Garfield County Sheriff Lou Vallario. “It’s abuse. It’s that political class attitude that thinks they’re entitled to consume public resources. It’s been a part of their life for so long.” Pitkin County Sheriff Joe DiSalvo agreed, saying that he’d be happy to provide security to public events. But private fundraisers, such as the one Clinton attended Tuesday that cost $2,700 a head to...

Fri Jul 22, 8:17 PM ET ALBANY, N.Y. - Albany firefighters were tearing apart a minivan as part of a training exercise when someone noticed the personal items inside. That's when they realized they had trashed the wrong vehicle. This week, Albany officials approved the city's share of the $12,000 bill for the 2002 Dodge Caravan that was mistakenly ripped open during a drill at a junk yard a year ago. Officials say the firefighters routinely practice accident scene rescue techniques by tearing open donated junked cars. In June 2004, they were supposed to practice on an older vehicle located...
