Top Defense Department school official arrested in human trafficking sting
A top official with the Department of Defense Education Activity was arrested earlier this month in an undercover human trafficking sting. Last week, Georgia law enforcement announced that 26 people had been arrested as part of a two-day undercover human trafficking sting conducted by the Coweta County Sheriff's Office. Among those arrested was 64-year-old Stephen Hovanic, chief of staff for Defense Department schools in the Americas. The agency is the federal school system for the Defense Department, operating schools for military families and Pentagon families. Hovanic is charged with pandering, a misdemeanor in Georgia.
