The most striking proof that the Arab anti-Israel cause is a common meeting ground for both Nazis and Communists --and that the Arabs welcomed supporters of both ilks-- lies in the friendship of Carlos, the notorious master terrorist who served the PLO, with Fran*ois Genoud, an old Nazi, one of the leading Nazis in pre-War Switzerland, later a financier who provided funds for Habash's faction of the PLO. "Carlos" (his nom de guerre) was what is called a "red diaper baby." His fabulously rich father, a Venezuelan lawyer and owner of estates, gave "Carlos" the name Ilich, Lenin's patronymic, as...

BATON ROUGE -- The House voted 76-13 Thursday to prohibit insurance companies from paying claims for "elective abortions" in Louisiana, sending the measure to the Senate for more debate. The bill would allow coverage only for abortions necessary to preserve the life of the pregnant woman, said Rep. Frank Hoffmann, R-West Monroe, the chief sponsor of House Bill 1247, a measure that has the backing of Gov. Bobby Jindal. Rep. Juan LaFonta, D-New Orleans, tried to change the bill to make it apply to some limited procedures such as allowing a doctor to remove a fetus that could not survive...

Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman was primed to win Tuesday’s special election both before and after Republican Dede Scozzafava dropped out, according to a new poll. The Public Policy Polling survey shows Hoffman leading the race by 17 points, 51-34, over Democrat Bill Owens with Scozzafava still in the race and taking 13 percent. In a straight head-to-head matchup with Owens, Hoffman’s lead held at 54-38. The poll was conducted over the weekend, during which time Scozzafava dropped out of the race Saturday and endorsed Owens on Sunday, but Hoffman led significantly at all stages. Scozzafava dropping out of the...

White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett seemed to confirm Sunday that President Barack Obama's top political aides are working to get the Republican candidate who dropped out of a New York congressional race, Dede Scozzafava, to endorse the Democratic contender, Bill Owens. "We would love to have--of course, have her support. And it's rather telling when the Republican Party forces out a moderate Republican and it says I think a great deal about where the Republican Party leadership is right now," Jarrett said on ABC's "This Week." Jarrett said Scozzafava's exit symbolizes a swing to the right by the Republican...

Former US senator, 2008 presidential contender and "Law & Order" star Fred Thompson stars in a new TV ad for NY-23 candidate Doug Hoffman in which he urges voters to "send a message to Washington" by voting for the Conservative nominee. Thompson, who was among the first national pols to endorse Hoffman, has a history with the New York Conservative Party. In January 2008, state Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long called Thompson his "favorite candidate" and hinted at an early endorsement. This was a snub to the hometown GOP contender, Rudy Giuliani, which isn't so surprising, since Long and the...

Doug Hoffman says he's fighting for the "heart and soul of the Republican Party" by running as a Conservative Party candidate, so don't call him a spoiler. Despite siphoning critical support away from official Republican nominee Dede Scozzafava, the candidate at the heart of the GOP civil war in upstate New York shrugs off warnings that he'll cost Republicans a House seat long held by the party. Polls give Democrat Bill Owens a slight lead, with Mr. Hoffman and Mrs. Scozzafava trailing and apparently splitting the conservative vote in New York's 23rd Congressional District. "Since I'm the only conservative candidate...

If John Kerry had been elected President of the United States in November 2004, especially with the incoming majority Democrat Congress, it is highly likely that Iraq would be in the midst of a civil war, Iran’s regional influence would have increased, Israel would be in more jeopardy than it is now, two Supreme Court seats would be occupied by clones of John Stevens and Ruth Bader Ginsburg instead of by John Roberts and Samuel Alito, judicial decisions would have given even more “rights” to enemy combatants, domestic entitlements and earmarks would have skyrocketed, the Bush tax cuts would be...

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The Rev. Oswald Hoffman, the longtime voice of the "Lutheran Hour" radio program, died Thursday in St. Louis after a brief illness, radio station KFUO said on its Web site. He was 91. The show, which is still broadcast weekly, is credited with making Hoffman one of the best-known Protestant evangelists in the United States. The Lutheran Hour Ministries said he consulted with former Presidents Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, along with world religious leaders including the Rev. Billy Graham. "For more than 33 years, Dr. Hoffman was a Sunday radio institution, touching...

On the surface there would seem to be little to unite the Aryan racialists of the neo-Nazi movement with the terrorists of radical Islam. To the neo-Nazis, Muslims are almost all members of ``inferior`` races; and to the Islamic terrorists, the neo-Nazis are almost without exception either atheists or members of fringe quasi-Christian sects. But the reality is that there has been close cooperation between Muslim extremists and Fascists ever since the founding of the Nazi movement in the 1920`s. For all of their differences, Muslim extremists and Nazis have always been united by a common group of beliefs and...
