Veteran attacks Kerry Chesterfield man is a force behind contentious TV ads questioning Vietnam claims
BY TYLER WHITLEY TIMES-DISPATCH STAFF WRITER Aug 15, 2004
Retired Rear Adm. Roy Francis Hoffmann picked up the phone in his Chesterfield County home this year and launched a movement to brand John F. Kerry a liar....
(below is an excerpt form article at the link....)
Kerry called Hoffman in May and offered to expunge the negative comments about him when "Tour of Duty" came out in paperback form, Hoffmann said. He refused.
Hoffmann joined the Navy in 1943 as an enlisted man, then went to officer candidate school. He saw action in the Korean War, where he also received a Purple Heart after being wounded.
He retired from the Navy in 1976 with the rank of rear admiral. He came to Richmond in 1990 to become executive vice president and part-owner of Meehan Overseas Terminals, the stevedoring firm at the Port of Richmond. He retired from that job in 1996.
He is married and has five daughters and seven grandchildren

IOW to get the truth out about Lurch. Seriesly.
A new twist. Kerry attempted a bribe maneuver with a reputation involved instead of money. This just keeps getting better.
A good review of the SBVT book talking about this is here:

About time some of the truth about kerry comes out.Just think kerry I got a plan, but I cannot tell you about it until after the election.
I just sent an email to the author to inform him that John O'Neill has not voted for the GOP presidential candidate since 1988. In 2000, he actually voted for Al Gore. No, DNC attack hacks, O'Neill is not a puppet of Karl Rove.
Actually, Captain Hoffmann was the Commander of the Swift boat unit that included Lieutenant John Kerry. Kerry was in charge of one of the boats. There is a vast difference between "being in charge of" and "commanding." Kerry's responsibilities were miniscule compared with those of Hoffmann. People are "in charge of" the linen closet or the petty cash fund or a small boat. Others "command".
Where are all those boat commanders coming forward to say that, yes, I too took my craft into Cambodia on a regular basis? One would think that there would be a democrat or two who had the proof and willingness to say it if it were true.
Kaptain Ketchup, aka Lurch, aka the Gigolo, is a damned liar. He is also incredibly stupid.
Thanks for the ping.
This attack on Kerry is not coming from the White House. It is coming from other Navy veterans, who lived and still believe in the culture of the US Navy and its honor, justly earned in defense of the shining city on the hill, America.
If the Bush Administration could do anything to shut this attack down, they would. But that option is not under their control. Goodness knows, there are enough negatives on Kerry's recors since leaving service in Viet Nam, to totally disqualify him for any elective office (including Senator from Massachusetts), because he is lackadaisical in his work ethic, he expresses himself in sometimes polar opposite points of view, he seems to be shopping around for a parade to lead, and other than WANTING to be President, he has exhibited absolutely no other virtues that would indicate his fitness to be either Commander in Chief or leader of a civil government. He is indecisive, he lacks the fortitude to defend any stance he has taken, he comes off as a mediocrity, and he has demonstrated little inclination to rise to challenges when confronted. Plus his health may not be all that good. How come he did not get into Naval aviator's training? Bush took the training, and by all accounts, was a pretty sharp pilot. Anybody that can pilot that flying stovepipe with wings called a F-102 has to have a major reserve of courage, even to step into the cockpit, and they were aging planes even as Bush was training to fly them. It is not known if any are even airworthy today.
What is not, or should not be, controversial, is whether F-102s were even adaptable to warfare in conditions as existed in Viet Nam in 1969, and therefore unlikely to be ordered into duty in that part of the world. You do the job you were trained for, and while young Lt. Bush may have crosstrained into another pilot speciality, it was considered a poor allocation of resources at the time, as there was still need for F-102 interceptors to provide a shield against the potential attack by long-range Soviet bombers carrying nuclear weapons.

I dunno if one can prove this phone call was ever made, but if it were possible to do so, and if this action by kerry to manipulate this good admiral to change his story about kerry were to make mainstream news-I believe kerry would be finished.
This is JUST PATHETIC.
Kerry really is scary!
Does someone have a contact phone number for Admiral Hoffman?
