Stephen Lara sued after the Nevada Highway Patrol took his life savings without charging him with any crime.. RENO, Nev.—On Thursday, the Second Judicial District Court for the State of Nevada denied the state’s motion to dismiss a Marine veteran’s lawsuit challenging the state’s civil forfeiture laws, after his life savings were taken through the controversial process nearly three years ago. Thursday’s decision means Stephen Lara, represented by the Institute for Justice (IJ), can continue his legal challenge to the state’s forfeiture scheme, which allows police to take people’s property without showing that they committed a crime. “The court’s ruling...

The California Highway Patrol is increasing its operations to help curb organized retail crime under a new order from the state’s governor, Gavin Newsom. “When criminals run out of stores with stolen goods, they need to be arrested and escorted directly into jail cells,” Newsom wrote in a statement announcing the effort. “Leveraging hundreds of millions of dollars in law enforcement investments, the California Highway Patrol — working with allied agencies — is increasing enforcement efforts and conducting and supporting covert and confidential takedowns to stop these criminals in their tracks during the holiday season, and year-round.

The Kansas Highway Patrol must stop using a tactic known as the “Kansas Two-Step” to detain out-of-state drivers long enough to find a reason to search their vehicles for illegal drugs, a federal judge has ruled. U.S. District Judge Kathryn H. Vratil on Monday granted a permanent injunction. The injunction was not unexpected. It follows Vratil's ruling in July that determined that the tactic violated drivers' constitutional rights against unreasonable searches. KHP spokeswoman Candice Breshears said the order is being reviewed by the state attorney general's office and declined further comment. A message left Tuesday with the office of Attorney...

The two-minute video, titled “Cislunar Highway Patrol System (CHPS)” and uploaded by the US Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) this week, details the project. Details on the planned project are sparse. The CHPS is a “spaceflight experiment designed to demonstrate foundational space domain awareness capabilities in the cislunar regime,” according to an extremely brief description on AFRL’s website. The project will be a collaboration between a number of US military branches. The Air Force will work with other organizations and contractors to develop the CHPS satellite, while the US Space Command will figure out how to best make use of...

Donald Trump will hold a Saturday morning presidential campaign rally in Fountain Hills. The rally will start at 11 a.m. with gates opening at 8 a.m. at Fountain Park. I hope Sheriff Joe has his troops ready. This could get rowdy, especially based on what those idiot protesters tried last night in SLC.

Highway Patrol is a syndicated action crime drama series that aired from 1955-1959. The series was syndicated by Ziv TV. It starred Broderick Crawford as Dan Mathews, the gruff and dedicated head of a police force in a large, unidentified Western state. A signature shot of the series was fedora-wearing Mathews barking “10-4!†and other rapid-fire dialogue into a radio-microphone as he leaned against the door of his patrol car (call sign ID# “2150â€)....When asked why the show ended after four seasons, Broderick Crawford said, “We ran out of crimes.â€

I've seen a lot of crazy things at a lot of golf tournaments but I'm not sure if I've ever seen this. A man at the 2014 US Open who was driving NBC's Roger Maltbie around the course got a DWI on Saturday for driving the course under the influence of alcohol. According to GolfWeek the story was as bizarre as it sounds. "The officer was upset because, according to him, the driver ran over his foot when leaving the tee area. The cop then chased the cart on a sandy surface just outside the gallery ropes while yelling, 'Stop!...

The unnamed firefighter was allegedly asked to move the firetruck which was presumably blocking traffic. Preliminary reports are that he did not refuse but responded by saying that he had to follow the chain of command and could not make that decision. The officer apparently told him that he would move the truck immediately or be arrested. When the firefighter refused he was cuffed and detained for about 30 minutes.

State Patrol: Front Seat Gas Tank Fueled 'Unsafe' Car It runs on alternative fuel source and the driver can see the road in ways most cars don't offer. But you won't be seeing this classic Ford Pinto back on a Minnesota road any time soon. A Minnesota State Trooper stopped the car Sunday on U.S. Highway 52 in Koochiching County. A State Patrol spokesperson posted photographs of what the Trooper found on the agency's Facebook page. "Much of the vehicle was rusted out," said the spokesperson. Photos show a clear view through what remains of the floor to the road...

Raleigh, N.C. — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol on Friday released its findings that clears a state trooper of wrongdoing following a Raleigh woman's claims that she was harassed and intimidated during a traffic stop in Wilmington last month.

This is an incident that happened in Wilmington to a couple of Raleigh attorneys. This totally reeks of a patrolman looking for sexual favors from a beautiful woman traveling alone….. but I can promise you, he has picked on the wrong person. I expect to see other victims of this patrolman coming forward soon – unless they were intimidated to the point that they will stay in the shadows. This is an outrage and I am so glad that the Tesseners will not let this drop. The word is, they will file suit if this patrolman is not removed from...
