Dutch Ruppersberger in cooperation with close to a dozen United States Airlines in October, 2003. The program allows troops stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan to fly home on leave for free. Many soldiers on leave for the holidays can not afford the airfare nor can their families. It would be nice for many of the wealthy citizens in this country to make a donation in the form of airline tickets to soldiers who are unable purchase a ticket or get a seat on military planes coming in for the Holidays this year. Thanks to a partnership between Northwest Airlines and the nonprofit Fisher House Foundation, travelers can donate their miles from the airline's WorldPerks frequent-flyer program to help service members wounded or injured on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan.
