Operation Hero Miles
Operation Hero Miles ^ | Operation Hero Miles

Posted on 10/30/2003 1:01:04 PM PST by jbstrick

In September 2003, the Pentagon started giving soldiers stationed in Iraq two-week leaves in the largest R & R program since the Vietnam War. The soldiers can fly to Germany or BWI (Baltimore Washington International Airport) for free, but the soldiers are responsible for flights the rest of the way to their destination.

Returning soldiers often have to purchase high-priced, last-minute airline tickets so they can spend time with their family. Americans have donated their unused frequent flyer miles to the Department of Defense to help troops travel home and spend quality time with their loved ones, without worrying about how much it will cost.

Without your miles, we cannot send our troops home.

Your extra miles today can help our soldiers to get home to their families tomorrow.

I did a search for this and here it is.
I just heard about this operation this morning and thought it was a darn good idea.
This thread needs to be bumped several times in order for people to see it.
