When I was 18 years old I received the right to vote. I grew up in New York City where the Democrat Party had a monopoly on power. Common sense dictated that I register as a Democrat or I would in effect be disenfranchised. The winner of the Democrat primary in New York was the winner of the November election in 99% of the cases.
