Why would a COVID lab run by a shady Chinese company be operating in Reedly, CA in the central San Joaquin Valley? The lab, which was supposed to be an empty building, was discovered by Reedly city code enforcement officers when they saw a garden hose attached to the building and investigated.

In my last post, I talked about an NBC article that discussed how Republicans pounced (eye roll) on Joe Biden’s mistreatment of her granddaughter. I won’t even name the young girl, because last I checked she is not even old enough for kindergarten. In the last few years, I have learned that many students literally google the names of other students to see if they can learn anything about them. Maybe someone else has named her publicly and that will eventually cause the child embarrassment, but it won’t come from me. Because as I just said, ‘[s]he’s frankly the innocent...

A transgender teen is in custody after authorities say they recovered a manifesto detailing her plan to attack three schools and churches in Colorado just four days after Audrey Hale murdered six people at the Covenant School in Nashville. William Whitworth, 19, who goes by the name Lilly and is referred to with female pronouns in arrest documents, was arrested on March 31. She was a student in the school district that she planned to attack between 2014 and 2016, authorities say. In a manifesto that was recovered in her home, Whitworth called Columbine killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold...

Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said Monday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that former President Donald Trump needed to be prosecuted for not trying to stop the violence during the January 6 riot on the U.S. Capitol. McCaskill said, “We can go through, and we can put the images at a specific time. And we can then fill in the text messages, the phone calls that were flooding the White House saying, get him to call them off. Now, what was he watching on TV at those moments? He was watching windows being broken. He was watching police officers being stabbed with...

In Virginia, Loudoun County Public Schools officials were warned Friday to revoke their suspension of a teacher for declining to use students’ preferred pronouns or face further legal action. Tanner Cross, who taught at Leesburg Elementary School, was suspended after speaking publicly May 26 during a school board meeting in opposition to the system’s proposed policy that teachers must use the pronouns preferred by students rather than the pronouns consistent with their biological sex. Cross was informed May 28 that he was being suspended “pending an investigation of allegation that [he] engaged in conduct that had a disruptive impact on...

Joy Behar, age 78, blamed a lack of sleep for using the incorrect pronouns in referring to Caitlyn Jenner on Friday’s The View. Behar referred to Jenner three times as “he” while discussing Jenner’s announced bid for California governor. “He’s got this guy Brad Parscale running his campaign. What do you think about that?” Behar asked co-host Sunny Hostin. “I mean, that guy was accused of using campaign funds to enrich himself. That’s who is running his campaign — or her campaign, rather.” She made the same gaffe one more time and again corrected herself. “I think that he should...

Brazil is facing a 'biological Fukushima' and is seeing lethal new Covid variants every week that could threaten to destabilise the world, one of the country's leading health experts has warned. The country's P1 variant - believed to be 150 times more contagious than the original Covid-19 virus - is of the most concern. It can reinfect those who had the first strain, and has killed thousands of people in their 30s, 40s and 50s. The variant has infected hundreds in Canada, including players in professional ice hockey team the Vancouver Canucks, and has been recorded in 27 people in...

After becoming the first transgender federal official to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Dr. Rachel Levine said she’s “humbled” and thankful for those who have fought for equality for decades. On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed Levine’s nomination to serve as U.S. assistant health secretary. Levine formerly served as Pennsylvania’s health secretary and stepped down when President Joe Biden nominated her for the federal post. Levine issued a statement thanking Biden for trusting her with the key position. She also thanked those who have supported her, particularly in the LGBTQ community. “As I prepare to take my oath of office...

For the first time, the U.S. Navy has granted a waiver to allow a transgender sailor to continue her military service despite the president’s ban on transgender people serving openly in the armed forces. Attorneys for the sailor and a spokesperson for Navy Secretary James E. McPherson confirmed earlier this week that senior government officials had approved the waiver. Navy spokesperson Brittany Stephens said the sailor, known only as "Jane Doe" in media reports and court documents, “requested a waiver to serve in their preferred gender” and will be “allowed to adhere to standards associated with their preferred gender, such...

“I met with Paul Ryan,” she says. “I’ve met with just about everybody. Publicly, they aren’t supportive of transgender rights.” What do they say to her? “I’ve never had anybody not be nice to my face,” says Jenner, who did not want to elaborate on conversations that were confidential. [cut] Jenner says Trump never reached out. (A source with knowledge of her thinking says Jenner would like to meet with the president after the midterm elections, but not in front of the press.) “He’s not been doing a very good job, but it’s not over yet,” she says. Jenner believes...

Poster-updating costs alone would reach into the millions. The Department of Labor has proposed a rule that would remove the words 'he' and 'she' from an anti-discrimination regulation in order to "avoid the gender binary" - which is obviously something that must be avoided at all costs. The rule replaces "he" or "she" with the individual, 'person,' or other appropriate identifier," according to the document's text. (So - wait - does that mean "he" and "she" are inappropriate identifiers?) It also updates the list of things that count as banned discrimination under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to include...

In George Orwell’s “1984,” the fictional Oceania government imposed a truncated English upon its people. The purpose of the new language, termed Newspeak, was to help the regime in its effort to eliminate thoughtcrime. “The purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees of IngSoc [the state ideology of Oceania], but to make all other modes of thought impossible,” Orwell said. But now Newspeak is transforming from fantasy to reality at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. The taxpayer-funded university recently issued a new guideline for...

The President of the United States, like millions of other people, tweeted Caitlyn Jenner today after the unveiling of the cover of Vanity Fair. After enduring hours of facial feminization surgery, breast augmentation, and hormone therapy, the one-time Olympic gold medalist poses on the cover in a one-piece white corseted lingerie outfit that reportedly cost $300. The caption reads, “Call Me Caitlyn.” [Snip] According to E! Online, the president reached out to Caitlyn Jenner to congratulate her on her “courage” hours after the reveal of Jenner’s cover photo. President Obama’s tweet was among the tweets that Caitlyn received on the...

(FOX19) - A Change.org petition asking to ban transgender conversion therapy following Leelah Alcorn's death has received more than 233,000 signatures in two days. The Transgender Human Rights Institute posted the petition on Dec. 31 asking President Barack Obama and the leadership of the House and Senate to begin the process of banning transgender conversion therapy throughout the nation. "'Conversion therapies' have been documented to cause great harms and in this case, Leelah's death. Therapists that engage in the attempt to brainwash or reverse any child's gender identity are seriously unethical and legislation is needed to end such practices immediately,"...

Brother and I will be moving into our house at the end of the month and have a washer question. We've heard that front loaders have issues with smell and continual cleaning, so we're looking at top loaders. Anyone have opinions on the new HE washers versus the older agitator models? Thanks up front.

Do you have a high-efficiency front-loading washing machine? If so, be on the lookout for mold. This recently-published MSNBC.com piece investigates the increased likelihood of mold growth in front-loaders. Unlike top loaders, which see most water evaporate after a cycle, front loaders experience water collection, particularly on the Rubber gasket around the glass window.
