House Republicans claimed a mandate for their 2025 agenda and celebrated keeping their majority Thursday, even as they remain shy of the seats needed to officially secure continued control of the chamber in January.
Why it matters: The jubilant tone of Republicans' first conference-wide call since Tuesday's elections underscores how confident Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and other GOP leaders are that the battle for the House will break their way — an outcome that seemed unlikely just days ago.
Votes are still being counted in 27 uncalled House races, but even Democrats admit that Republicans are on track to keep their majority in 2025.
National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) told lawmakers on the call that he expected the GOP to win about a dozen more seats, one lawmaker told Axios.

Don't worry, be happy. I'm taking bets on all Eyeore comments.
Decision Desk has GOP at 216. 218 needed to rule.

The democrats are still scraping the bottom of the barrel for votes so hope they never break out the bottom
I see so many senators and representatives who are mentioned as possible cabinet picks. We could lose some seats thru appointments and special elections if they get picked.
The google results are from the Associated Press.
They are NOT a legitimate news organization.
Why consider them objective when all their articles are clearly biased?
Controlling the House is vital, but we need a new Speaker.
Well, Trump knows what he’s doing, doncha think?
He’s not going to risk his slender House majority. Any Senator picked will have a Republic governor who will replace that senator—if that happens—with another Republican. The greatest Senate Republican that has a democrat governor will have to remain in the Senate.
I am in California House District 45 and the voting count has been at a standstill for over 36 hours now. Interesting that the percentage of the Republican leader varies between 66.5% and 72% depending on the site you visit, but the vote count is identical.
I’ll trust DecisionDesk, with its *very* transparent process and results, over that opaque Google-manipulated bullshit “news” designed to encourage the cheaters and demoralize the honest.
I mean, seriously? They haven’t called Arizona and Nevada for President Trump, when everyone else that’s worth a damn has called all the states? C’mon man!
**Controlling the House is vital, but we need a new Speaker.**
Byron Donalds as speaker would be stronger than Johnson. On top of that what better gift to the black voters who supported Trump?
Well let’s look at this logically.
The final count will have to be released eventually.
The fact that they appear to have stopped counting can only be one of two things. Either the fix is in, and they’re manufacturing more votes—but Lara Trump’s lawyers are there watching! OR, they’re pissed that the Republican is still leading so they want to drag it out out of spite.
I think it is the later. We’ll see.
Decision Desk seems to be about the only site still regularly updating house races. A lot of the others still have Republicans at 204 or 211 while Decision desk has them at 216.

Oh, boo hoo.
I am struggling to understand the whining, naysaying pessimism among so many here who should be rejoicing this move of Providence and boldly stepping into the days ahead confident that we’ll win the struggle to rebuild America!
AP may be biased but you don’t have to dig for the data.
Well, we have the Senate Majority but look at what is about to happen. Thune Majority Leader
Oh I’m celebrating the sweep. Absolutely
But I am also aware that we have already created a 2026 special election for the Ohio senate seat. Sherrod Brown will run in a race that could go either way. The second half of Trump’s term in the US senate is more at risk.
yeah. they did next to nothing, nothing.
all grass roots. period.
I will predict that if Rubio goes into Trump’s cabinet that DeSantis will appoint himself Senator. Otherwise, he is out in 2026 when his term is up and Rubio’s seat is not up again until 2028, and Rick Scott’s seat will not be up again until 2030.
