It's not like I ever aspired to be here, but thank you." Berry was picked as worst actress for 2004's action bomb "Catwoman," which also took the prize for worst film at the 25th annual Razzies, an Oscar spoof that trashes...

Actress Angela Bassett hasn't had a starring role on the big screen since 1998. So how is she getting her groove back? By dissing the role that earned Halle Berry an Oscar. The 43-year-old actress is speaking out about racism, sexism and ageism in Hollywood in the latest issue of Newsweek, and she saves her harshest words for Monster's Ball, saying she turned down the film's lead role because she thinks it was demeaning to black women. Berry later snagged the part--that of a death-row widow who inadvertently falls in love with the man who executed her husband--and nabbed the...

Return to Pretendland by Kevin McCullough I always believe it's good for any American to speak out on things they passionately care about. The more that Pretendlanders speak, however, the more simplistic and shallow they reveal their thinking processes to be.

First the dumb. The Academy Awards show Sunday night drew the lowest rating in history. This could be because there’s a widening disconnect between what America wants in entertainment and what trash Hollywood churns out. The movie folks are oblivious to the chasm, however, and continue to indulge in the annual self-congratulatory gala that affirms their own worth, at least to themselves. This is vital for individuals seething with insecurities. Woody Allen’s been in therapy longer than most people have been alive. So it was only fitting he received a standing ovation from the Oscar crowd. The real winner Sunday...
