George Zimmerman was involved in a shooting incident in Lake Mary on Monday afternoon, according to Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell. The shooting involved two men and happened on Lake Mary Boulevard, police said. Officers at the scene said it appeared Zimmerman suffered a minor gunshot wound, Bracknell said. In January, Zimmerman was accused of assault by his girlfriend, but no charges were filed after she recanted her allegation. He was also arrested in November 2013 on domestic violence allegations after his girlfriend called police. His girlfriend later recanted her story and charges were never filed. Zimmerman was acquitted...

Speaker Mop & Glo made headlines for her call to investigate opponents of the Ground Zero mosque, but there was something else about her remarks that should have raised your hackles: “There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we’ve been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we...

The organization planning to build an Islamic community center near the World Trade Center said the imam who has been the public face of the project, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, will be playing a reduced role in the facility. The nonprofit group Park51 announced Friday that it had named a new imam to help lead religious programing so that Rauf could focus on other initiatives. Rauf announced late this fall that he would be starting a global movement that would fight extremism and promote better relations between people of different faiths and cultures. He is set to start a national...

It is interesting to read the mosquestream media's take on the offensive and obvious design of the Ground Zero mega mosque. Even the -- get this -- "less polemically-minded critics" see the obvious Stars of David and Crosses and excuse them this way: "the structure's Star of David echo is one among several design elements crafted consciously in 'homage to other religions.'" And a Cordoba House spokesman said through Twitter that "the hexagons aren't intended as any sort of reference to the Star of David, but rather come from an Arabic architecture technique called Mashrabiya." So now the Star of...

The sketches showed a 16-storey building wrapped in a honeycomb of abstract shapes. The building was compared by some to the Fortress of Solitude, the crystalline headquarters of Superman depicted in comic books. Others suggested that some of the shapes resembled the Jewish symbol of the Star of David. The company behind the development pointed out that the hexagram is also used in Islam, as the Seal of Solomon, as well as in Christianity and other religions. Sharif El-Gamal, the developer, said: "We want to have a marriage between Islamic architecture and New York City. We want to do something...

(Look at the squished stars of David!) The Islamic supremacists get more bold and naked in their motive. They have released the architectural renderings of the tumbling Star of Davids here. But back in May, it was reported that the morphing mosque had a different architectural plan. The plan calls for a 15-story building, including two levels below ground. There is no architect. Instead, the builders plan to hold a "world-class design competition." What happened to the worldwide competition and how did we get the crashing Stars of David? The Cordoba Park51 announced a new series of renderings of the...
