Ham Radio Club, Gunsite Salute NRA Birthday The Yavapl Amateur Radio Club (YARC) of Prescott, Ariz., will operate a special event station Nov. 17, 2020, in celebration of the NRA's 149th birthday. The amateur radio station will operate from Gunsite Academy's 2000-acre campus north of Prescott. The call sign will be K7GST, an FCC-licensed amateur radio station. it will conduct operations on the following amateur frequencies from 0900 to 1800 MST: 7.040, 7/250, 14.040, 14.250 and 21.335 MHz. World-renowned firearms expert Jeff Cooper, founder of the Gunsite firearms training center in Paulden, died Monday afternoon at his home near the training center. Cooper, 86, had been battling several health problems in recent years. The family plans a private burial ceremony and will announce a memorial ceremony at the National Rifle Association Whittington Center in New Mexico in the near future. Cooper had been a member of the NRA Board of Directors. Friends, At the request of the family it is my sad duty to report the passing of our founder, Jeff Cooper. Jeff died peacefully at home this afternoon while being cared for by his wife Janelle and daughter Lindy. There will be a private internment at Gunsite by invitation, with a public memorial service at the Whittington Center at a date to be announced. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
