Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland are reportedly seeking “substantial” damagesSting is reportedly being sued by his former Police bandmates over lost royalties. The soloist and ex-frontman/primary songwriter of the London trio (real name Gordon Sumner) is being taken to court for “substantial” damages by guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland. It follows years of legal disputes between the group. That’s according to The Sun, which cites a source who claimed that “this has been coming for quite some time”. “Lawyers tried repeatedly to reach an out-of-court settlement but hit a stalemate,” they continued. “Andy and Stewart decided there was...

Sting's former Police bandmates are suing the frontman for millions of pounds in missing royalties. The singer, 73, was handed a High Court writ by the group's guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland. The 'substantial' damages claim comes after many years of bitter legal disputes. A source told The Sun: 'This has been coming for quite some time. Lawyers tried repeatedly to reach an out-of-court settlement but hit a stalemate. 'Andy and Stewart decided there was no alternative than court so pressed the button. They say they are owed millions in lost royalties.' London's High Court lists the legal...

It's also the perfect substitute for Aperol in a traditional spritz.Gordon Sumner is a 12-time Grammy Award-winning rock legend. He is better known to the world as Sting, which isn’t necessarily the most appropriate moniker considering his debut entry into the world of alcoholic beverages. The 30-proof peach-hued Italian amaro he helped launch has no bite whatsoever. It’s pretty painless on the pocketbook, too, standing on shelves at an accessible price point of just $35. At any rate, Sting is ultimately just one of many players responsible for the new drink, known as Amante 1530, which launched in late 2023....

40 years after it was first released, it seems the Police guitarist still doesn’t feel he got his due for the iconic guitar part.Andy Summers has hinted that he might take legal action against Sting over the songwriting credits for Every Breath You Take, 40 years after The Police’s classic track was first released. When asked about the 1983 hit on the podcast The Jeremy White Show, the former guitarist for The Police (as transcribed by Ultimate Classic Rock) says, “It’s a very contentious [topic] that is very much alive at the moment. That song was going in the trash...

Rapper Diddy revealed he pays Sting $5,000 every day for sampling the Police classic “Every Breath You Take” on his 1997 track “I’ll Be Missing You.” In 2014 it was confirmed that the performer, previously known as Puff Daddy, was handing over $2,000 daily after he asked permission to use the sample only after his song was released. As a result, Sting was entitled to all royalties from the Grammy-winning single, instead of a percentage, which now totals over $1.8 million per year.

The Police’s debut album, Outlandos D’Amour, boasts an enviable reputation. Widely regarded as one of New Wave’s key records, it’s racked up multi-platinum sales since its release, and is rightly cited as the disc which set the band on the road to superstardom.

Attended a Sting concert last night at the great Saratoga Performing Arts Center. He sure still has it, also nice to see. The songs throughout the night were flawlessly executed by a deft band featuring the guitar tandem of longtime sideman Dominic Miller and his son, Rufus. Sting introduced the ensemble as a “family band,” slyly remarking that bespectacled drummer Zach Jones was Police drummer Stewart Copeland’s son.

Blame the ex-Police man. A song by the band’s former frontman Sting sparked a wild brawl between a Florida couple that culminated with a man chomping down on his boyfriend’s lip. Byron Haynes and his live-in beau, Yakeme Moore, were bickering inside their home in the seaside city of Bradenton Sunday, when Haynes, for some reason, flipped out when he heard the singer’s 1985 tune, “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free,” according to documents posted by The Smoking Gun.

On their first U.S.tour in early 1979, the three members of The Police arrived for their first interview at my Memphis ROCK 103 radio studio in a station wagon. Barely 15 months later they returned to take me to lunch, except this time they were in a limousine.

Seeing that George Soros and Sting are working together to “end the drug war” puts me in mind of a story an Army buddy who works in the DEA told me about busting in the door of a drug house only to find three occupants – the oldest four years old, having been left in charge while his “parents” went out to score meth. Yeah, drug use is a victimless crime – if you ignore the victims. Apparently not content to subsidize the whining of the nonentities at Media Matters, Soros is taking a break from his adventures in currency...

Human rights activists are demanding the superstar stinger donate to charity the more than $2 million dollars “in blood money” he received for playing a secret concert for the daughter of one the world’s most brutal dictators. O Sting, where is thy sting? It is not where his principles lie, according to human rights activists who are demanding that the superstar stinger donate to charity the more than $2 million dollars “in blood money” he received for playing a secret concert for the daughter of one the world’s most brutal dictators, Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan. The little known dictator burst...

Sting Claims He Once Confronted A Ghost Sting has claimed he once confronted a ghost which wandered into his room at the dead of night. 19 Nov 2009 Sting said he also experienced flying objects and mysterious voices Photo: JANE MINGAY The singer, who famously sang Spirits In The Material World in the 1980s, said wife Trudie Styler also witnessed the figure, standing with a child in the corner of their bedroom. Sting said he also experienced flying objects and mysterious voices in one of his homes in an interview to be played on Radio 2. He said: ''I would...

Sting: Obama Was 'Sent From God', Critics 'Violent and Full of Fear' By Lachlan Markay Created 2009-10-30 13:58 Many Hollywood leftists consider President Obama a figurative godsend. Some, including Sting, think he was literally sent from God. The former Police front-man told the Associated Press that he believes that Obama is a gift from Heaven, delivered to shepherd the befuddled masses to providence (h/t Ace [1]). "In many ways, he's sent from God," Sting said in an interview with the AP [2]. He heaped praise upon the President for his ability to lead the country though the "mess" in which...

NEW YORK (AP) - Sting isn't a religious man, but he says President Barack Obama might be a divine answer to the world's problems. In an interview, he jokes that Obama was "sent from God," but in a serious tone, he also said that Obama was the best person to handle the world's "mess."

NEW YORK (AP) - Sting isn't a religious man, but he says President Barack Obama might be a divine answer to the world's problems. In an interview, he jokes that Obama was "sent from God," but in a serious tone, he also said that Obama was the best person to handle the world's "mess." The English-born Sting says he's fascinated by American politics and those opposed to Obama. He says Obama's opponents are "aggressive and violent and full of fear."

Maybe Sting should start writing more instrumentals. The school teacher-turned-rock star topped Blender's list of the worst lyricists, thanks to lines that betray "mountainous pomposity (and) cloying spirituality," the music magazine said. The survey, contained in the November issue that hits newsstands next week, placed Rush drummer Neil Peart at No. 2, Creed frontman Scott Stapp at No. 3, Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher at No. 4, and soft-rocker Dan Fogelberg at No. 5. Blender assailed Sting for such alleged sins as name-dropping Russian novelist Vladimir Nabokov in the Police tune "Don't Stand So Close to Me," quoting a Volvo bumper...

I’VE heard of some ridiculous celebrity demands in my time but STING takes the biscuit. The fussy superstar stunned staff at a restaurant — by taking along his own CHEF to cook his meal. The singer didn’t fancy the renowned Italian food on offer from the fine resident cooks at swanky celeb hangout Casa Tua in Miami Beach. Instead, he insisted on his personal chef preparing his meal in the eaterie’s kitchen while the staff made food for other mere mortal guests. A source said: “It was amazing — Casa Tua is one of the best places in town. It...

LONDON (Reuters) - An employment tribunal ordered rock star Sting and his wife Trudie Styler to pay 24,944 pounds in compensation on Tuesday for wrongfully dismissing their former chef. Jane Martin, who cooked for Sting and his family at their country estate in England, filed a claim in July last year saying she had been sacked by Styler after revealing she was pregnant.
