According to Karmelo Anthony’s parents, no one wins when it comes to the verdict on their son. And this is true. A man’s life was taken far too early, and that is something the victim’s family will have to live with forever. No amount of punishment, or in this case, a softball sentence, will bring justice for their son’s actions. And Anthony losing his trial is nothing more than a personal problem. If they are upset their son’s actions cost him 35 years of his life, just imagine how they would feel if someone stabbed their son in the heart....

Karmelo Anthony's family told CBS News that they believe the trial was unfair from the start. Now Anthony's attorneys have filed an intent to appeal. A day after the trial, Karmelo Anthony's parents, Andrew Anthony and Kala Hayes, sat down to break their silence and let the world know how they're feeling as their son begins his 35-year sentence for murder in a state prison. Despite what a jury found, his parents dispute that their son ever wanted to kill Austin Metcalf. "My son is no murderer," said Hayes. "My son didn't intend to hurt anyone. My son was defending...

The Colorado School district that wanted to ban a student from wearing a Gadsden Flag patch on his bookbag is now the target of a federal lawsuit for its handling of the situation. The mascot for a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant in New Jersey has become the latest costumed character to be accused of racism. The incident on July 30 occurred when Natyana Muhammad took her children to the chain's location in Wayne, New Jersey - and the employee playing Chuck E. Cheese allegedly ignored her daughter during a meet-and-greet period. She posted a video of the encounter to Twitter which shows the employee walk past as a small child holds her hand out for a high-five. Muhammad wrote of the incident: 'My 2-year-old was racially discriminated against.' 'As you can see, he...

The parents of four black students in New York are planning to file a $12 million lawsuit against a school district after a teacher wrote the caption "Monkey do" above an image of their children, and then showed it to the class during a slideshow. In November, students at Longwood High School on Long Island took a class trip to the Bronx Zoo. During the outing, a teacher snapped a photo of four students standing behind each other with their arms on the shoulders of the person in front of them. The image was included in a slideshow played during...

The family of Michael Brown, the city of Ferguson, former Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson and former police Officer Darren Wilson are nearing settlement of a lawsuit over Brown’s 2014 fatal shooting by Wilson, the Post-Dispatch has learned. The settlement has not yet been finalized or approved by a judge. A person familiar with the settlement negotiations said that a settlement was close, however, and that it would be for less than $3 million. It’s not clear how much less, but $3 million is the limit of the city’s insurance. There was a conference call with the judge and lawyers...

Am retired DC lawyer. Old friend at ABC bureau there says NBC is strongly suspected of paying $35,000 for Charlotte shooting. Source says they received some inquiring calls from perp's family lawyer regarding ABC's possible "interest" in obtaining video, but when "The Suits" called him back, they were effectively told "the deal is already done." Only a rumor, but remember, DC lives on rumors, 95% are usually true, and this is from a usually very reliable source.
