A career criminal with a lengthy record of burglaries and thefts who broke into a Portland countertop fabrication business and was shot three times by the owner while attempting to flee is now seeking $10 million in a civil lawsuit, arguing the property owner used excessive force against him.

It’s Portland, he’ll win.
The Bar should investigate lawyers who file these kinds of lawsuits.
“shot three times by the owner while attempting to flee”
I wonder if that claim is in dispute.
If people were allowed to defend themselves, the trash would slowly be removed and we wouldn’t need the surveillance state to investigate crimes after the fact.
Things like flock certainly make it easier for cops to investigate crime, but what’s the point if they are likely to be released quickly to re-offend?
Darwin Award wanna-be.
Never the head the round may not penetrate, best to learn how to consistently hit center mass were the heart and major arteries are. Better chance of not being sued.
After his possible victory....
We’re in the money. 🎶
And when we see the landlord we can look that guy right in the eye.🎶
We’re in the money, come on, my honey.
Let’s lend it, spend it, send it rolling along!🎶
Like the old one referenced later in a movie where the burglar broke into the roof skylight and fell into the kitchen, cutting himself on a knife so sued the homeowner.
Counter-sue for the cost of the bullets.
The owner was a poor shot.
Center of mass is good, widely taught, easy to remember.
The groin/hips area is also good, though not as widely taught.
1) It is not covered by most body armor
2) Damage to the bones in that area seriously inhibits mobility.
3) Femoral arteries are “major” and if damage will bleed out quickly.
Something to consider, particularly if CoM shots don’t seem to have the desired effect.
Fabrication business - a lot of sharp WEAPONS there and in his hand.
The business owner was not charged, so yes.
The business owner was not charged, so yes.
> As part of a plea agreement, he received five years in drug treatment instead of prison time. <
Well, there it is.
Remember some scumbag “Lawyer” is chasing this for him.
Range time needed.
A good shoot would have ended this career criminals career.
It's interesting. Some Republicans have found it difficult to retain top-tier counsel because the good lawyers are told that it will damage their career to represent a crony of Trump's. So only bad lawyers take those jobs.
Imagine a professional Bar association cracking down on ambulance-chasing publicity hounds who blatantly try to cheat justice by knowingly getting terribly guilty people back out on the street. What if the Bar Association starting telling lawyers -- "That kind of behavior is going to destroy your career."
Then the terrible people would only get terrible representation. And they would all be in jail.
The sad fact is that Bar association is run by ambulance-chasers.
At least in California.
