The parents of four black students in New York are planning to file a $12 million lawsuit against a school district after a teacher wrote the caption "Monkey do" above an image of their children, and then showed it to the class during a slideshow.
In November, students at Longwood High School on Long Island took a class trip to the Bronx Zoo. During the outing, a teacher snapped a photo of four students standing behind each other with their arms on the shoulders of the person in front of them.
The image was included in a slideshow played during class the following month and was accompanied by the caption "Monkey do."
In a notice of claim the first step in a possible lawsuit a lawyer for the families said the image was altered to compare the students to monkeys or gorillas. It says the district violated the group's civil rights.
According to the claim, the picture of the students was placed between two images on separate slides; one of a monkey with the caption "Monkey See" and another image of a gorilla.

and the monkey community sued for $20 million.
Monkeys tend to copy each other’s behavior.
These boys were copying each other’s behavior.
There is no proof that the intent was racist.
If you’re looking to be offended, then that does make an easy mark for feigned outrage. The teacher must have been white.
Gimme a break. Monkey see, monkey do was for some reason a common playground phrase (not an insult, just sort of teasing) in NY even at the dawn of time, such as my childhood in the 50s. It obviously still is. It has nothing to do with being black.
That will s a terrible thing to do....monkeys
Teacher is in NY. Teacher knows its a hypersensitive, hysterically Democratic state. Teacher is almost certainly Democratic. Teacher is an idiot.

"Look at that little monkey run..."
BFD. They prolly all laughed about it.
Racism in the eye the racist.
NBC is Comcast
Great timing. De Blasio is still in office, so he’ll give them everything they want.
I remember back in 1959, in a toy store, I saw a money bank shaped just like a monkey. It also looked exactly like a white kid we knew. And I DO mean exactly!
I also remember a white store owner who looked, from behind, just like the back of a monkey.
Then there was the black girl who looked like she fell out of the UGLY tree and hit every branch on the way down. Looked like she got into a fight with an axe, and the axe won! Her soul was as black as her skin.
Wait till the monkeys get their say on the matter..................
It would be a pretty interesting racket if these people could get a couple million out of the district then split it with the teacher.
So these 4 were damaged 5 million dollars each..got it.
Definitely $12 million in damages. For sure.
Isn’t that just part of the old saying, “Monkey see, monkey do” that had no racist connotatiion?
I agree, much ado about nothing. During the Christmas holidays I snapped a couple pictures of my grandkids sitting on a bench with three monkey statues - "see no evil", "speak no evil" and "hear no evil". It's all in fun, and I know they won't sue me or accuse me of saying they're monkeys. People need to lighten up.
I have heard blacks refer to other blacks as monkeys. Its either wrong to say or it isnt. No more of you cant say it.
Ask the school if they descend from monkeys.
I thought George Bush was the monkey
