In 2000 America watched Richard Hatch, dubbed the “fat naked gay guy” weasel his way to the one million dollar prize on “Survivor.” Hatch wasn’t very well liked so his indictment for failing to pay federal income taxes due on his winnings brought no sympathy. Hatch had to hire a lawyer and fight to avoid a federal prison stretch. In spite of his wealth this ordinary, if not typical, American couldn’t beat the government. He was convicted.
