The family of a high school sophomore has filed a suit seeking to force school officials to allow the girl to wear clothing with Confederate flag images. The federal lawsuit was filed Thursday by the North Carolina-based Southern Legal Resource Center, a Confederate heritage legal advocacy group. Candice Hardwick, 15, said she wants to wear the Confederate emblem to pay tribute to an ancestor who fought for the South in the Civil War. Latta High School officials say the symbol, which many people consider racially charged, is disruptive in school, and that district policies allow principals to ban such clothing....

Travelers on I-75 have a new diversion to break up those long drives to Florida. “Need a laugh?” beckons a billboard overlooking Exit 212 in Locust Grove, south of Atlanta. The sign directs motorists to the Tanger Outlet Center, where they’ll find the Foxworthy Store — an emporium devoted to Atlanta comedian Jeff Foxworthy and his buddies on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. The store’s clever T-shirts, humorous hunting paraphernalia and novelties are built around Foxworthy’s “You might be a redneck” shtick — everything from camouflage camisoles for the ladies to a “redneck jack-in-the-box” that pops out of an outhouse....

Atlanta's Jeff Foxworthy is having a second life on primetime TV. The WB has given his midsummer sketch comedy show "Blue Collar TV" a 22-episode pick up for the 2004-05 season. Originally, the WB had committed to eight episodes over the summer with another 13 as an option. But ratings were so strong, the network went beyond that, giving them a guaranteed 30 episodes in one calendar year. WASHINGTON TWP. -- The Warren Hills Regional School Board will ask the highest court in the land to decide if a "You Might Be a Redneck If" T-shirt should be allowed in school. Board attorney James Broscious will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to rule whether the school has the right to preemptively restrict student speech if it fears that speech could cause trouble. "The administration needs to have the ability to be proactive," Broscious said.In October, a three-judge panel from the Third U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the school couldn't ban clothing or speech unless it had proof...
