​Although we haven't experienced the pleasure (terror?) of sampling it, we're willing to bet that the fish 'n' chips ice cream being produced by an English dairy company qualifies for the Strange Snacks of the World Hall of Fame. The ice cream is creamed cod-flavored, encased in a vanilla and pepper batter, and served with potato ice cream chips and, naturally, salt, vinegar, and lemon wedges. The UK's first vegetable oil powered trawler is undergoing trials in the North Sea. The Jubilee Quest trawler has had its diesel engine converted to run on the more environmentally friendly vegetable oil. The conversion is not a cheap one but the project had financial backing from the government agency The Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish). The UK's fishing fleet is currently powered by diesel but it is hoped that by using biofuel, far less of the harmful carbon dioxide (CO2) will end up in the atmosphere.
