Are we about to witness a new round of racially-charged protests, riots and demonstrations all across the United States? On Sunday night, a protest that had been organized to commemorate the one year anniversary of Michael Brown’s death in Ferguson, Missouri took a very violent turn. An 18-year-old named Tyrone Harris that is being described as a “real close” friend of Michael Brown opened fire on police with a stolen handgun. Police returned fire and Harris got hit. Two men indicted last week on federal weapons charges allegedly had plans to bomb the Gateway Arch — and to kill St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch and Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson — the Post-Dispatch has learned. Sources close to the investigation were uncertain whether the men had the capability to carry out the plans, although the two allegedly did buy what they thought was a pipe bomb in an undercover law enforcement sting. #Ferguson protesters marched Sunday in St. Louis City near the Vonderitt Myers memorial on Shaw Avenue. Vonderitt Myers, who was 18, was shot dead when he fired on police in October near the Botanical Gardens in St. Louis. Myers was charged with murder at 16 but was not convicted after the witness did not show up. The Vonderitt Myers memorial was covered with plastic on Sunday night. The FBI arrested two members of the radical New Black Panther party and charged them with federal firearms violations when they were caught buying explosives to use during the upcoming demonstrations in Ferguson, MO after the grand jury decision which is expected shortly. The two men arrested are the same two men under indictment for purchasing handguns under false pretenses.
