The Biden administration is suing Exxon Mobil after several “nooses” were found between 2016 and 2020 in a Louisiana-based plant.According to the EEOC lawsuit (Fox News), the oil giant failed to take enough action in dealing with reports of nooses being found by black employees. In one January 2020 incident, a Black employee at the facility discovered a noose at his worksite and reported it to management. According to the lawsuit, the company was aware of three similar incidents at the facility in the last several years, with a fifth incident reportedly occurring in December 2020.The EEOC claims that the company...

IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ExxonMobil today released the following statement in response to a letter from President Biden. We have been in regular contact with the administration to update the President and his staff on how ExxonMobil has been investing more than any other company to develop U.S. oil and gas supplies. This includes investments in the U.S. of more than $50 billion over the past five years, resulting in an almost 50% increase in our U.S. production of oil during this period. Globally, we’ve invested double what we’ve earned over the past five years -- $118 billion on new oil and...

Rex Tillerson, Exxon Mobile’s XOM 0.51% CEO, is in the running for a new job: Donald Trump’s Secretary of State. The Wall Street Journal, citing an unnamed transition adviser, reports that the energy executive is set to set to meet with Trump for an interview this week. Tillerson’s interview comes after Trump aides said the President-elect had settled on four finalists. But Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway said Sunday that “there’s not a finite list of candidates,” adding that there’s “more than four.” Most notably, Trump is considering 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and former New York City Mayor Rudy...

PetroChina just surpassed Exxon Mobil to become the largest energy company in the world, on a market cap basis. PetroChina was able to accomplish this despite Exxon’s growth of 1.5 billion barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) in reserves. These new reserves are located at the Permian Basin in West Texas and the Kearl Oil Sands project in Canada. PetroChina’s primary operations are located in China. This may not seem like a major oil hub to the average investor, but China is actually the 5th largest oil producing country in the world. Now the question becomes: can PetroChina retain its status...

Crude oil production from U.S. wells is poised to approach a 42-year record next year as drillers ignore the recent decline in price pointing them in the opposite direction. U.S. energy producers plan to pump more crude in 2015 as declining equipment costs and enhanced drilling techniques more than offset the collapse in oil markets, said Troy Eckard, whose Eckard Global owns stakes in more than 260 North Dakota shale wells. Oil companies, while trimming 2015 budgets to cope with the lowest crude prices in five years, are also shifting their focus to their most-prolific, lowest-cost fields, which means extracting...

This week, Exxon Mobil (XOM) laid out the facts of oil and energy demands and felt confident enough to say all their reserves will be exploited. Despite fear-mongering about climate, population, income-inequality and desperate efforts to redistribute billions of dollars from rich nations to poor nations, the world's thirst for oil will matter more. In fact, the world's thirst for oil will be driven by prosperity. The proposed policies portray nations that are on the cusp of rapid growth as feeble and inadequate, when they are anything but that. Not only should rich nations reject this rhetoric but so, too,...

One thing that I have realized about the rhetoric surrounding green energy initiatives and the proclamations by Team Obama glorifying companies like General Motors while vilifying others like ExxonMobil is that the claims and the facts are worlds apart. Voters are led to believe that evil oil companies like ExxonMobil are getting a free pass and not paying their fair share while the supposedly patriotic GM is an American success story which now contributes to society and builds miracle cars like the Chevy Volt which will free the US from foreign oil dependence. One set of facts that is...

Big Oil. We love, LOVE, to hate Big Oil. As we’re paying more and more at the pump, and as we continue to flounder in this post recession economy, it’s hard to look at the Big Oil companies , their profits and think anything other than greed. But is that fair? Let’s check. Recently, the big oil companies announced their profits for the first quarter of 2011. And they are impressive numbers to be sure: ■Exxon Mobile – $10.7 billion ■Chevron – $6.2 billion ■ConocoPhilips – $3.0 billion THAT is a lot of billions. A LOT! But is it really...

BP and CNPC have won the right to help Iraq develop the Rumaila field. The UK and Chinese companies beat ExxonMobil, the US oil company, which had partnered with Petronas, the Malaysian oil company. BP clinched the contract when it agreed to reduce its fee per barrel from $3.99 to $2. But the rest of the auction has not gone as smoothly. In fact, so far, the smaller five of the eight oil and gas fields being auctioned off have failed to find a company willing to accept the narrow terms and the relatively low price Iraq is willing to...

Is oil giant Exxon Mobile preparing itself for the beginning of the end of oil? It sure looks like it. In its 2008 Corporate Citizens Report released Friday the company promises to battle greenhouse gas emissions by increasing energy efficiency in the short term, advancing emission-reducing technologies in the medium term, and developing technologies such as solar, next generation biofuels and coal gasification for the long term.

TOWSON, Md. – A jury is awarding about $150 million to nearly 300 people who sued Exxon Mobil over wells contaminated by a gasoline leak north of Baltimore. The Baltimore County jury awarded a majority of the families in the lawsuit about $1 million each for emotional distress Thursday. Other damages cover declining home values and lifetime medical monitoring. The jury didn't find Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil committed fraud, and therefore couldn't impose punitive damages. The plaintiffs had sought several billion in damages. About 26,000 gallons of gasoline leaked from a gas station in 2006 in the town of Jacksonville.

NEW YORK, (AP) -- A federal judge in Manhattan on Wednesday confirmed the freezing of $300 million in cash held by Venezuela's state-run oil company, finding it probable that Exxon Mobil Corp. will win its legal battle against the company. Exxon Mobil is challenging Petroleos de Venezuela SA, or PDVSA, over compensation for the nationalization of one of four heavy oil projects in the Orinoco River basin, one of the world's richest oil deposits. Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil, the world's largest publicly traded oil company, is seeking to freeze billions in Venezuelan assets in the United States and Europe to...

ExxonMobil's gay problem The world's largest oil company is under fire for refusing to specifically prohibit discrimination against gays in its employment policy. NEW YORK (FORTUNE) - Does ExxonMobil have a problem with gay people? While much of corporate America has embraced gay rights - by promising not to discriminate against gay workers and offering domestic partner benefits - the world's largest oil company has steadfastly resisted pressures to become more gay-friendly. ExxonMobil has been boycotted by gay rights groups, peppered with angry phone calls, criticized in gay-oriented consumer guides and pressured by shareholder resolutions - all to no avail....

Probing For Oil By Jenni Vinson Trejo April 28, 2006 Since I broke my right ankle in November in an auto accident, I haven’t been able to drive. I’ve been playing Miss Daisy and having my family chauffer me around. But, this week, my daughters had a crisis in Kingsville and I needed to handle it in person, so I broke down and drove for the first time. It was painful. I did feel the pain in my ankle but having to fill up the Blazer and watching the numbers on the pump spin wildly was even more painful. This...

April 14, 2006— Soaring gas prices are squeezing most Americans at the pump, but at least one man isn't complaining. Last year, Exxon made the biggest profit of any company ever, $36 billion, and its retiring chairman appears to be reaping the benefits. Exxon is giving Lee Raymond one of the most generous retirement packages in history, nearly $400 million, including pension, stock options and other perks, such as a $1 million consulting deal, two years of home security, personal security, a car and driver, and use of a corporate jet for professional purposes. Last November, when he was still...

Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the world's largest publicly traded oil company, on Thursday said quarterly profit surged 75 percent to nearly $10 billion, raking in a bonanza from record oil prices. The profit was the highest in the company's history, surpassing the record it set in the 2004 fourth quarter. Revenue jumped 32 percent to just over $100 billion. Two powerful hurricanes ripped through the Gulf of Mexico in the third quarter, disrupting energy operations in the region and sending oil prices and refining margins sharply higher. Exxon Mobil said net income rose to $9.9 billion, or...

NEW YORK, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp. said Wednesday that restoring products pipeline and marine links, including Mississippi River traffic, was the key to boosting crude runs at its capacity-curbed Baton Rouge, Louisiana, refinery. Production was slowed from the 494,000 barrel-per-day plant due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina, which slammed into the Gulf Coast Monday, forcing shut nine other refineries and closing nearly all of the crude output from the Gulf of Mexico. "The release of the SPR (Strategic Petroleum Reserve) oil may be beneficial to some refiners, but restoring pipeline and marine links is most important...
