A high-flying Texas judge overseeing a number of significant criminal trials has mysteriously been missing from the courtroom for nearly a month amid concerns of manic behavior and a police interaction, according to a report. Judge Kelli Johnson, one of Harris County’s longest-serving current jurists, hasn’t been seen at the 178th District Courthouse in Houston since May 1 — with no explanation on where she has gone or when she’s set to return, ABC13 reported. A court spokesperson has so far only confirmed “Johnson is out for personal matters” after initially refusing to address the judge’s unexplained absence. But an...

Former Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson revealed to an audience last week that the X-37B spaceplane can pull off maneuvers in space that drives potential adversaries “nuts.” Although maddeningly unspecific, experts believe she was referring to the X-37B’s ability to change its orbit, throwing off both amateur and professional satellite watchers and making the spacecraft unpredictable. According to Military.com, Wilson was speaking at the Apsen Security Forum when she remarked that the X-37B "can do an orbit that looks like an egg and, when it's close to the Earth, it's close enough to the atmosphere to turn where...

A scuba diver missing from the Florida Keys since Tuesday has been identified as a well-known Canadian underwater filmmaker and conservationist. Rob Stewart, 37, was diving with a small group on the wreck of the Queen of Nassau near Alligator Reef off Lower Matecumbe Key in about 225 feet of water, his sister Alexandra Stewart said by phone from Toronto on Wednesday morning. He was filming an installment of his Sharkwater documentary series, she said. Stewart and another diver were using closed-circulation rebreathing dive equipment instead of conventional scuba tanks, which are open-air circulation, according to an email from the...

Last week, CBS’s “news” magazine program 60 Minutes issued a contrite apology and retraction for a chilling eyewitness report on the Benghazi massacre [2] and the publishing company Simon & Schuster pulled the book The Embassy House from retailers. Dylan Davies, the author of the book and source for the report, was painted as a dishonest guy looking to make a buck off of a tragedy. Davies has now been “discredited” by none other than our own government. That would be the same government that allowed Hillary Clinton to play hooky from the Congressional hearings [3] about the massacre. (Perhaps...

A small colony of emperor penguins on an island off the West Antarctic Peninsula is gone, and the most likely culprit is loss of sea ice caused by warming. Although it has been predicted that penguins could suffer greatly because of global warming, this is the first time the disappearance of a colony has been documented. The researchers, however, caution that their study is hampered by a lack of long-term information on emperor penguins, both at this site and in general, and their environment. Emperor penguins are regal, if bulky, birds that stand as high as 4 feet (1.2 meters)...

Neil Whitehead, Ph.D. Twin studies are favorites of mine because of the potential light they throw on the origins of same-sex attractions (SSA). The latest one (Santtila et al., 2008) is three times larger than any previous study - in fact, larger than all the rest put together.Does this latest study teach us something new? Quick answer: No. It confirms the best recent studies, which tell us that genetic factors are minor; non-genetic factors are major. The paper's title is "Potential for Homosexual Response is Prevalent and Genetic." This implies to the average reader that homosexuality is sometimes hidden, but commonly...

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Under federal investigation for embellishing his Army service in Vietnam, a groggy-sounding Mayor Robert Levy called in sick at City Hall, climbed into his city-issued Dodge Durango and seemingly dropped off the face of the Earth. The mystery and the gathering scandal over Levy’s military record have worried civic leaders in this seaside casino resort, which has a long history of corruption, with four of the last eight mayors busted on graft charges and one-third of last year’s nine-member City Council in prison or under house arrest.

One of two survivors of last month's massacre of Christian charity workers in Karachi has disappeared after his release from police custody, his family and lawyer said on Wednesday. "I have no idea where he is and I am concerned now about his whereabouts," said his wife Elisabeth Robin. "I have contacted my family members and they too have no idea," she said. Robin Piranditta, a witness to the massacre, was rearrested in dramatic fashion on Tuesday after a high court had declared his detention illegal. He was then formally declared a suspect in the September 25 execution-style murder of...
