  • Obama’s New DHS Report Says Terror “Ordinary Crime” Not Connected To Islam

(Judicial Watch) — A new Homeland Security report compares terrorism to “ordinary crime” in metropolitan U.S. cities and omits the radical Islamic factor, instead finding “significant variability in the ideologies motivating terrorist attacks across decades.” This appears to be part of the Obama Administration’s Muslim outreach effort, which includes hiring a special Homeland Security adviser (Mohamed Elibiary) who supports a radical Islamist theologian and renowned jihadist ideologue. The Obama Justice Department also created a special Muslim Engagement Advisory Group to foster greater communication, collaboration and a new level of respect between law enforcement and Muslim and Arab-American communities. And, in...

As I read about funding over various budget items, I wonder if legislators really understand what's important anymore. Debating financing over community centers, historical societies and theaters seems quaint. By comparison, losing focus on real priorities, squandering precious tax dollars and incurring trillions of dollars of debt will eventually destroy our country. Governments at all levels are struggling to close budget gaps. Their jobs would be easier if they applied a "Priority of Government" approach to all decisions. For Kitsap County, that should entail actively acknowledging the principles included in the county commissioners' mission statement: "Kitsap County government exists to...
  • PLANET JANET (DHS Secy's bizarrely paranoid rant--pack her back to Arizona)

DHS Secy Napolitano's not backing down on what she insists was an accurate "assessment" of a "right-wing" terrorist threat---particularly slanderous of brave Americans who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan-- saying only "to the extent veterans read it as an accusation, an apology is owed." Not good enough. The report was a bizarrely paranoid rant. Which is why her agency's own civil-rights division raised red flags over some of the language-- Napolitano released it anyway and defends her agency's paranoid warning that right-wing crazies are poised to launch a coup d'etat----she points to a similar DHS report on left-wingers. But that...

  • The 'Right-Wing Extremism' Report and Europeanization

Numerous commentators have noted the extreme flimsiness of the DHS “rightwing-extremism” report. How seriously, after all, can one take a report on the ostensible threat of violent “right-wing extremism” that begins by admitting that it has no “specific information” to support the conclusion that the threat in question even exists? The alleged “resurgence” of “right-wing extremism” announced in the title turns out to be a matter of pure speculation, based on factors whose actual effects on “extreme” right-wing “radicalization and recruitment” are not substantiated with a single piece of concrete evidence. As Michelle Malkin has pointed out, in marked contrast...

The United States Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis issued a report last week suggesting that current political and economic conditions are energizing right-wing extremist groups, that many of these groups follow extremely conservative ideologies and that some may seek to recruit and “radicalize” veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. True, true and true. But, conservatives reacted by throwing a knee-jerk hissy fit. They twisted the report’s meaning to imply that they, and more importantly our war heroes, were being vilified by a partisan document. Their argument seeks to suppress and subjugate two rather unfortunate facts: while...

"Why is the Department of Homeland Security spending our time and resources singling out groups like pro-life supporters instead of focusing on identifying and apprehending the real terrorists - like  al-Qaeda - groups that have vowed to destroy America?" Arizona Right to Life is saddened and deeply disappointed by a recent report made public by Department of Homeland Security Secretary and former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano regarding many organizations throughout the nation, including pro-life groups and our nation's military.Arizona Right to Life PAC cannot understand the mental acuity behind recent comments made by Secretary Napolitano. In a Homeland Security report...

A report from Janet Napolitano's Department of Homeland Security is entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment." The report is "one of the most shoddy pieces of propaganda I'd ever seen out of DHS," writes Michelle Malkin, who deems it a "piece of crap report." The "Key Findings" section of the report opens with these words: "The DHS has NO SPECIFIC INFORMATION that domestic rightwing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence...but the economic downturn and the election of the first African-American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and recruitment." This document...

It appears that only Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs finds nothing wrong the DHS report on conservative terrorist threats. The report speculated that everyone from committed second amendment proponents to returning veterans were potential domestic terror threats. The report was very long on speculation and very short on any data or facts that make these threats any more serious than any threat dreamed up by anyone anywhere in any situation.

The recently released Department of Homeland Security assessment of rightwing extremism represents an alarming politicization of that huge federal agency. The 10-pages document is entitled: "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment." Its source is the Extremism and Radicalization Branch of the Office of Intelligence and Analysis Assessment, of the Department of Homeland Security. (Imagine the size of their security badges.) Read it here. American Thinker Jim Byrd's article entitled "Is Texas A Terror State?" provides a catalogue of transgressions that cumulatively define rightwing extremism. Byrd concludes that, when measured against Governor Rick Perry...
