The end of the summer in 2024 brought some excitement to the restaurant scene in Dallas-Fort Worth. The biggest talker is probably the $20 million spent on Nuri Steakhouse in Uptown Dallas. But there’s lots of loyalty for lower-priced restaurants, like the new La Rue Doughnuts in Trinity Groves and La Casita Coffee in East Dallas. My next meal will be at a barbecue joint, and I’ve got a lot of smoked-meat spots to choose from. I hope you find something delicious in our September 2024 Hot List. If you like Jimmy’s Food Store in East Dallas, Ari’s Pantry is...

Hundreds of Venezuelan migrants are illegally working as food delivery drivers across America, DailyMail.com can reveal, showing up to your door under names and identities that don't belong to them. The troubling development is a consequence of the one million Venezuelan citizens who have flooded into the US, largely illegally, during President Joe Biden's time in office, with many entering through the US-Mexico border. It raises huge concerns about the safety of the home delivery apps and the consumer's ability to trust who is actually delivering food to their home and family - with customers' personal information potentially placed in...

The bus was leaving Bettye Myers Middle School last week when the 8th-grade girl says she was attacked by someone she says she didn't really know. Earlier in the day, she'd heard rumors that the girl, new to the school, wanted to fight her. "She said if I didn't keep her name out of my mouth, then she was going to beat me up," explained the student we'll call "Nicole" to protect...

Imagine this: You head to Florida to look after a sick family member, only to come back and find squatters have broken into your house, sold all your belongings, and now, unbelievably, are legally considered “tenants.” So now you’re stuck shelling out for a lawyer to get them out. It sounds like a wild story, doesn’t it? But, shockingly, this is the reality for a woman from Texas who left her home to care for her sick mother. The New York Post: Squatters turned a Texas woman’s home into a “drug den” and sold her possessions at a yard sale...

There's no doubt: Texas loves its football. So, on the surface, a bond election including a $94 million price tag for a second high school stadium isn't entirely shocking to read, given the culture of the Lone Star State. Yes, the price tag would make it the "most expensive in Texas history." That's true. But according to district spokesperson Rachel Trotter, there is much more to the story than "building a new football stadium." Trotter told WFAA over the phone this is not just a football stadium, but rather "the district's largest classroom." Trotter noted there is numerous other benefits...

Dr. Pedro Piedra, a professor of molecular virology and microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine, the number is not enough to have significant herd effect. The vaccination data covers the 2022-23 school year, and shows that the rates for children in North Texas have not yet recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused a significant decline in the number of children vaccinated against preventable disease like measles, chickenpox, polio, and and more. Before the COVID pandemic, in October 2019, about 95.9% of kindergartners in the Fort Worth district had received the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccination. The pandemic disrupted access...

People who serve on city boards in Denton [greater Dallas/Fort Worth] are no longer required to be U.S. citizens—or even lawful residents. Denton City Council voted late last month to remove a requirement for residents serving on city boards and commissions to be registered voters, allowing noncitizens to participate. The city said the purpose was to include the highest number of diverse members. Noncitizens—regardless of immigration status—can now serve on all city boards, commissions, and committees except for the Public Utility Board (requirements for that board are set in the city charter, so a change must be approved by voters)....

You may have seen this story, since it went viral last night. I overhear many conversations in my shuttle bus from the DFW airport and nobody is commenting about the election or what happened in DC.

Ok, last run of the night to DFW around 9:45 PM last night. I work as a shuttle driver from a hotel in the DFW airport area. I have been working there since July, since being called called back after being furloughed back in April. Pick up a no more 30 year old white guy with no luggage, except a computer case, go to the next call, and it is a white couple, and then I get a call for another pick up, and it is a white guy 35 and a 3 year old boy. So I go back...

A leading Democratic candidate in a closely watched House race brushed off looting and arson that occurred during nationwide unrest during protests about racism and police brutality sparked by the death of George Floyd. “What the hell you got snipers on the roof for in a peaceful march? Even if people loot, so what? Burn it to the ground, you know, if that’s what it’s going to take to fix our nation,” retired Air Force Col. Kim Olson said during a live digital event on Tuesday, shown in a clip obtained by the Washington Examiner.

The defense industry is one of few manufacturing sectors in North Texas not reeling from the impact of COVID-19. One of the area's largest employers, Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT), hired 166 people in Dallas-Fort Worth during the past two weeks and is advertising for roughly 700 more open positions in the area, said company spokesperson Ken Ross. The company builds missile products and fighter jets locally. The additions are part of a broader push by Lockheed Martin to beef up its employee base around the country. The Bethesda, Maryland-based defense contractor said last week it has hired close to...

I came back from a flight last night around midnight at Terminal A gate 15 and was surprised by all the homeless sleeping in the area around baggage claim and in the hallways. I guess they take the DART train to the A terminal and sleep the night, and are rounded out in the morning. This situation makes Dallas county and the DFW airport look bad at their ineptness to deal with homelessness. I heard about this situation about 2 weeks ago and called Fox affiliate KDFW channel 4 and they brushed it off. I should have taken video but...

That’s probably not how you’re supposed to refuel planes. A fuel truck struck and damaged two aircraft at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Monday morning, prompting an investigation into the cause of the incident. The truck, believed to be operating for Allied Aviation, was filmed first colliding with the wing of one American Eagle jet, and then crashing into the wing of a second American Eagle jet, before coming to an abrupt stop.

A transgender woman from Florida went missing a week ago during a layover at DFW International Airport, and her family is asking for help finding her. Pauline del Mundo, 59, was passing through DFW Airport on Sept. 14 on her way from Tampa to Cozumel, Mexico, but never took her connecting flight on American Airlines. She instead called a family member saying she had changed her mind about traveling to Cozumel but needed help getting a plane...

McLaren North America’s rapid expansion has necessitated the move from 4,500 square feet on the 24th floor of a downtown New York City office suite to a custom-designed 30,000 square foot facility at 1405 S. Belt Line Road in Coppell, said Tony Joseph, McLaren North America president. The new facility will house...

The medical examiner has confirmed that 10 people were killed when a plane crashed into a hangar and started a fire at the Addison Municipal Airport Sunday morning. According to Addison officials, the plane experienced some sort of failure during takeoff before crashing into an unoccupied hangar just after 9 a.m. The airport was closed for about 45 minutes after the crash as firefighters worked to put out the flames that broke out because of the crash. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the twin-engine Beechcraft BE-350 King Air was destroyed by the fire. Authorities say all 10 on board...
