Boyd faces up to 5 years in prison, $250,000 fine - A federal jury convicted a former aide to U.S. Rep. John Conyers of failing to appear for his sentencing in a fraud case. DeWayne Boyd, 49, was convicted of the charge Wednesday, U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy said Thursday. Boyd, formerly of Detroit, had been convicted Dec. 15, 2004, of charges including mail fraud, making false declarations under oath, making false statements to investigators, bankruptcy fraud and theft of government property.
