As I write this, Donald Trump is set to take office in less than a week. That’s one job I definitely wouldn’t want. Never, in the history of our nation, have we seen so much disaster, on so many levels and in every sector of society. I can’t think of any incoming president in history that ever faced what Trump is facing going into this. Let’s remember the people who are still suffering after Hurricane Helene devastated the Appalachian region in September. It’s not in the news anymore, and neither are the people who are suffering there every day, but...

AUSTIN, TX — Bringing a critically acclaimed career to a close, movie star Dennis Quaid announced his retirement from acting to start appearing in Christian films. The fan-favorite actor, who starred in such popular films as The Right Stuff, The Parent Trap, and Jaws 3, revealed that he was leaving professional acting behind and would instead spend the rest of his days starring in Christian movies. "It's time I found something to do other than telling compelling stories with really good scripts," Quaid said. "I've enjoyed my time as a movie star, but you eventually reach a point where you've...

Dennis Quaid spoke at a rally for Republican nominee Donald Trump in Coachella, California on Saturday, during which the actor compared Trump to President Ronald Reagan, whom Quaid portrays in the new film “Reagan.” “Hello, everybody. God bless you. God bless America,” Quaid said. “I’m here today to tell you that it’s time to pick a side.” The actor then specified what the choice is between. “Are we going to be a nation that stands for the Constitution or for TikTok?” “Are we going to be a nation of law and order, or wide open borders?” he continued. “Which is...

On Friday, I did something I hadn’t done since before COVID-19, I went and saw a movie premiere on the day it opened in an actual movie theater. With my childhood friend Susan, whom I’ve known for more than five decades—a dyed-in-the-wool conservative just like me—we went and saw Reagan. And unlike most critics on Rotten Tomatoes who rated it at 18% and elsewhere, we loved it along with a virtually unprecedented 98% of Rotten Tomato viewers.Right up front, I can say that Reagan is not without flaws. The cinematography in much of the movie is quite dark, especially in...

The producers didn't plan for the biopic about the life of Ronald Reagan to open so close to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, but delays caused by the pandemic and an actors strike led to its release on August 30. It seems easier to portray a historical figure that no one currently living remembers. In the case of "Reagan," the challenge would appear especially challenging. Actor Dennis Quaid, who plays Reagan, is more than up to that challenge. Quaid avoids what could have easily been a temptation to portray Reagan as a caricature. Though he resembles the 40th president...

Dennis Quaid argued during a recent television interview that, rather than politics, it was the "weaponization of the justice system" and his policy record that ultimately convinced him to vote for former president Trump. "People might call him an a--hole, but he’s my a--hole," the Hollywood actor declared. Quaid has been in Hollywood hits like "Traffic" (2000), "Dragonheart" (1996), and portrays President Ronald Reagan in the 2024 biopic, "Reagan," which will premiere in August. "I think I’m gonna vote for him in the next election," the actor told host Piers Morgan of "Piers Morgan Uncensored" on Tuesday. "It just makes...

When I was offered the role of Ronald Reagan’s longtime confidant Edwin Meese in “Reagan,” playing opposite Dennis Quaid as the 40th president, I was excited. I asked our producer, Mark Joseph, if it would be all right if I reached out to Meese and he replied, “We can set that up.” I was pleasantly surprised and immediately started to prepare my questions for the interview. The outcome was that Reagan’s former counselor and U.S. attorney general spent an hour with me on a Zoom session. His insights were helpful and as I prepared myself for the role, I read...

Dennis Quaid has long been a familiar face in Hollywood, starring in hits and cult classics such as "Traffic," "Parent Trap," and "Innerspace." While he continues to appear on celluloid, lately he has also been mounting stages to sing God's praises. Shortly after releasing his gospel record "Fallen" in June 2023 — which landed in the top 15 on Billboard's Top 200 Christian/Gospel chart — Quaid provided BlazeTV's "Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey" incredible insights into his renewal of faith and road back to an intimate relationship with God. Quaid, a 69-year-old Houston native, recently expounded on some details of...

Dennis Quaid is taking heat for joining a $300 million federal public service campaign that reportedly will put a positive spin on the Trump administration’s handling of the COVID-19 emergency. Since news of the ad blitz first broke on Politico, it has been earning criticism –including for its choice of celebrities set to tape spots. “The Big Easy” star has publicly praised President Trump’s handling of the virus, and has already taped an ad with administration infectious-disease expert Anthony Fauci, Politico reported Friday. Surgeon General Jerome Adams has paired with gospel singer CeCe Winans. The Health and Human Services team...

Dennis Quaid is getting married again. The 65-year-old actor confirmed to "Extra" that he proposed to his girlfriend, 26-year-old Laura Savoie, at Turtle Bay, Oahu, in Hawaii. “I had the ring in my pocket. It has been kind of a month-and-a-half plan — I wanted it to be private,” Quaid said. “She was actually taking a selfie of us, and I put the ring in front and said, ‘Will you marry me?’ And then she fell down." "It was kind of spontaneous. It was very much a surprise," he said. People reported that the two have been dating for several...

2 movies I found worth watching recently. I found good undercurrents of traditional values. "Spanglish" starring Adam Sandler (isn't he pro-Bush?) about a man in LA married to a neurotic wife (who is hilarious BTW) who hires a beautiful maid with a daughter. The maid cannot speak a word of English and is fiercely protective of her daughter. Adam Sandler is drawn to the maid because of his neurotic wife but in the end remains faithful to the wife. Lots of family values in this one. No affair takes place. "In Good Comapny" with Dennis Quaid. About an advertising exec...
