Authorities have charged five illegal immigrants belonging to the violent MS-13 gang with the alleged murder of a 15-year-old boy in Frederick County, Maryland earlier this year, Fox 5 DC reports. Limber Lopez, 15, was found dead in April near Gambrill State Park just outside of Federick, Maryland after his family reported him missing in late-Febraury. After the report was filed, authorities happened upon a crime scene at the state park the following day which led to the discovery of Lopez's body more than a month later, Frederick police chief Jason Lando said in a statement.

In at least 80 cultures worldwide, people have developed whistled versions of the local language when the circumstances call for it. To linguists...hope to learn more about how our brains extract meaning from the complex sound patterns of speech. Whistling may even provide a glimpse of...the origin of language itself. Whistled languages are almost always developed by traditional cultures that live in rugged, mountainous terrain or in dense forest. That’s because whistled speech carries much farther than ordinary speech or shouting, says Julien Meyer... a linguist and bioacoustician at CNRS, the French national research center, who explores the topic of...

From the presidential election of 2016 to the presidential election of 2020, from the huge, mostly peaceful protest on Jan. 6 to facing our second presidential impeachment of the same president, it is all too clear that we are becoming two cultures. We are becoming two cultures that occupy one land. The last five years have shown us all that there are two distinct cultures in America. From extremely partisan elections to election fraud to impeachments to possible Deep State criminality, it is hard to see how these two cultures can become one again. It is hard to see how...

Washington's NFL team, Cleveland's MLB team ... and now the Vancouver Canucks? The NHL squad is now feeling pressure to change ... this after an Indigenous Studies expert claims the main logo featured on the team's uniforms is cultural appropriation. Sean Carleton -- a University of Manitoba history professor -- spelled out his concerns in a lengthy social media thread this week ... explaining why he feels the team's orca logo should be replaced. Carleton says the whale -- which was created nearly 3 decades ago and has elements of artwork designed by Haida in it -- is hurting indigenous...

Boredom is becoming an insidious problem. Here is a re-post of an article I wrote back in 2001 or 2002 while sitting on our sailboat. She was lying at anchor and I was trying to overcome boredom. It pertains mainly to foreign places but, since the United States are coming increasingly to resemble foreign places, many of the suggestions are applicable there as well. In many places in the United States, it is necessary to learn enough of the local foreign language to get by and the article explains how to do so with ease. That will permit intimate exploration of...

We're a Culture, Not a Costume Too Selective outrage over Halloween costumes By Kevin DeAnna A student group at the University of Ohio has received praise from the mainstream media for its "We're a culture, not a costume" campaign. The group is called Students Teaching About Racism in Society. As with all multicultural groups, it is fundamentally a product of the administration, beginning in 1988 as a class. Ohio University also features a multicultural center with no fewer than 31 separate student organizations (including STARS) featured on the site. The group's president is one Sarah Williams (age 24) who works...

(CNN) -- Thinking about donning a kimono to dress like a geisha for Halloween, or a Mexican mariachi suit? Students from Ohio University have a message for you: "We're a culture, not a costume." With ethnic and racial stereotypes becoming increasingly popular Halloween costume themes, members of the school's Students Teaching About Racism in Society are launching a campaign to make revelers think twice before reducing a culture to a caricature, the group's president said.

There are endless ideologies - political and religious - that have developed and have dominated the human race since the Babel dispersion 4,200 years ago (Genesis 10, 11:1-9). These ideologies are all rooted in the fallen humanity (i.e., inherent depravity) of man, and are ruled by his sensual nature (i.e., the five senses that govern fallen man in this physical world).

Surprise and even shock were among the reactions to my recent column about how elite members of the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, Switzerland, were considering a proposal for a new global television network to usher in a state of "global governance." It sounded authoritarian, even totalitarian, to some. Here are more of the troubling details. The media proposal, which was included in "The Global Agenda 2009" report, is to create "a new global network" with "the capacity to connect the world, bridging cultures and peoples, and telling us who we are and what we mean to each...

There were many reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire. Each one intertwined with the next. Many even blame the introduction of Christianity for the decline. Christianity made many Roman citizens into pacifists, making it more difficult to defend against the barbarian attackers. Also money used to build churches could have been used to maintain the empire. Although some argue that Christianity may have provided some morals and values for a declining civilization and therefore may have actually prolonged the imperial era. Decline in Morals and Values Those morals and values that kept together the Roman legions and thus...

A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism. "Very few people were true Nazis "he said," but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had...

The reader could never guess it: this writer was recruited to cover the central and eastern part of Europe. Therefore, it might seem odd that the author regularly dissects another topic. The motive is the frightening crumble of the resolve to prevail of economically advanced and politically democratic entities that were, when the geographic term still applied, referred to as the “West”. It is warranted to concentrate on the politically-economically advanced communities and their relationship to the state-based or supranational forces that plot their destruction. Whether the forces of oppression – once represented by the Nazis, more recently by the...
