Starting with an old cell phone a friend gave him, 17-year-old Steven Ortiz of Glendora, CA, used Craigslist to trade up 14 times over two years and eventually end up with a Porsche Boxster. Here's how he did it. Although Oritz's story isn't the first time we've seen Craigslist-swapping writ large, it's the first one we've seen that doesn't include any outside help. You may remember Kyle MacDonald, who famously created a website to document his attempt to trade one red paperclip for a house. It worked. Sgt. Thomas Bingham, the police spokesman, said a man brought the left leg in after it apparently washed ashore, also posting the missing limb on jacksonville.craigslist.org. "There are no markings on it except for a Willie Nelson sticker," Bingham said. "It's kind of hard to forget." The owner can also call the police department property room at (904) 247-6196 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

It's hard to imagine the pre-Craigslist days. Can you even remember how you sold a slightly used bicycle or a stroller or a car? Nowadays you have some options when it comes to selling your old treasures online and if you haven't tried Adbirds yet, you need to give the site a test-drive. Adbirds is similar to Craigslist, but I'd say it's more safe, sophisticated and mommy-friendly. Sure, if you sell on Craigslist, you get in front of a lot of eyes instantly, but sometimes it's too many. Let’s say I’m trying to sell a baby stroller. By the time...

It was just a simple sales transaction set up via Craigslist, the Internet classified ads site. Tragically, Charlene Sanders is a widow today and her husband, James, is dead. He died defending his family from four people who came to the house in response to his ad. They didn’t come to buy the ring;...
