Comedy Central: The Most Trusted Name in News
Newsbusters ^ | 04/06/10 | Anthony Kang

Everyone knows Fox isn't "the most trusted name in news," so who is? You guessed it - and at least one media tycoon agrees. Speaking at the University of Missouri as a guest-lecture, Craig Newmark - Craigslist founder and informal Obama technology-advisor - argued that Comedy Central is the most trustworthy news source.

Invited to discuss the future of journalism - where individuals virtually have an endless amount of resources in today's era of new media - Newark stressed how trust and credibility was paramount, emphasizing the exemplary dedication Comedy Central shows have for investigative reporting and fact-checking.

"[R]ight now I think the most trusted news show in the U.S. is the one that does the best investigative reporting and the most trustworthy reporting - and that's ‘The Daily Show,'" Newark said - and he wasn't joking. "Sounds like a joke - isn't."

Why would this moron even be ASKED about the state of journalism? He runs want ads for the internet. That’s like asking the guy who posts the classifieds for the Washington Times what should be on the editorial page.

Unfortunately he is somewhat correct. People actually believe that Jon Stewart is a journalist and newsman.

That's because he isn't funny. I always thought you had to be funny to be a comedian, but I guess not.

What an ULTRA maroon.
My experience with Comedy Central is that it is unwatchable. I have never watched a whole program on it. And certainly not that moron Stewart doing the “news”.

I always forget to watch Daily Show. Did Jon ever get around to making fun of Hank Johnson, the “tipping Guam” guy?

Some people at FR think that Stephen Colbert is a conservative. Stupid people on both sides of the aisle. But people who watch Comedy Central think they are “informed”.

Great service, stupid liberal.

One thing we can thank him for, however: he’s running the mainstream newspaper industry into the dustbin of history. No classified advertising — no local or city newspapers.

It would seem the point of this thread is that,in some ones opinion at least, you are better informed if you watch comedy central and, generally speaking, the demographics of this show do indicate a significantly higher than average education, when compared to FOX and therefore one ought to conclude that a higher degree of education is proof of having been exposed to a higher degree of informative information. And, by the way, being more informed about something is not the same as being more intelligent and neither does it speak to one’s capacity for analysis.

Jon Stewart must be proud to know that the only people to look up to him have the IQ of shoe leather.
