Under the proposal, Russia is insisting on full control of the Donbas region, which includes the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine. Moscow is demanding that Ukrainian forces withdraw entirely from the area.
In return, Russia has indicated that it would pull back its troops from certain occupied zones in the northeastern Sumy and Kharkiv regions and agree to “freeze” the frontlines in the southern regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to travel to Washington on Monday, where he will meet with Trump to discuss the emerging framework and its implications for the future of the conflict.
Grecian Delight supports Greece What remains unclear, however, is whether Putin’s proposal represents an opening bid designed to shape future negotiations or a final, non-negotiable offer from Moscow. Either way, it places Ukraine in a difficult position: accepting it would mean relinquishing sovereignty over large swaths of territory, while rejecting it risks prolonging a devastating war with no clear end in sight.

The melon ball 🍈 is in Zelensky’s court.
Sounds like terms for a ceasefire, not an end to the war.
“In return, Russia has indicated that it would pull back its troops from certain occupied zones in the northeastern Sumy and Kharkiv regions and agree to “freeze” the frontlines in the southern regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.”
Which Kremlin site did that they get this information from?
Oh, they don’t say, then it’s FAKE NEWS.
Or perhaps it’s from Perhaps www.GeneralKellogg.com, or www.LindseyGraham.com, or www.EuropeanWoman.com? If so, in any case, it is still Fake News.
“Sounds like terms for a ceasefire, not an end to the war.”
Now that you mention it, I think it is the PARTIAL terms for a ceasefire, but there are other terms that I guess they don’t feel worth of mentioning (probably instructed that way), which include NEUTRAL observers, and an end to Western military and intelligence support of Ukraine.
So, non-starter for the Neocons.
Ukraine needs a new election.
Ukraine says it wants Russia out...that is the only term. Of course “Z” is making a lot of side deals for weapons and money and of course 60 year olds are now included in the Ukie Army.
Fine. Let Russia withdraw and then the Ukrainians can hold new elections. Sounds good to me.
The only way that Zelensky agrees to give up the Donetsk ‘fortress belt’ is if Putin agrees to allow British and French “peacekeepers” in Ukraine.
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to travel to Washington on Monday, where he will meet with Trump to discuss the emerging framework...”
There’s the admission that Russia has proposed a framework for a settlement. Z is going to discuss it with Trump. At some point, Z will have to make a response for anything to move forward.
The Rules of War are “to the Victor Goes the Spoils”. And it’s been that way since the beginning of time.
Donbas is a Russian speaking area that has never wanted to be part of Ukraine. The Ukrainian government had been fighting them for several years before Russia finally did something. The world has let all sorts of other areas balkanize but not Ukraine, money has to be thrown at it willy nilly.
This is the same thing Russia has been saying for a while. And Z is meeting with Trump to discuss it. Z and T will come up with a response and then hopefully actual negotiating can begin.
“Moscow has agreed to a number of US President Donald Trump’s proposals to resolve the Ukraine conflict, but Vladimir Zelensky has rejected them all, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with NBC News on Friday.”
Zelensky must shit or get off the pot. That’s what will be discussed Monday.
I’m really getting tired of the having to put up with the SPAMMING here demanding that Russia surrender, since it will NEVER happen.
“Ukraine says it wants Russia out”
Yeah, Ukraine needs to put that in writing. As you know, talking is meaningless without a written framework for peace. Ukraine has no limits on what they can negotiate over, but it has to be in writing. I negotiated hundreds of contracts during my career, none involved life or death, but they did involve land and buildings. And every one of them had to be in writing and signed by all parties to be enforceable.
The assumption is that the Ukraine wants to end the conflict in some way other than Russia's total defeat and surrender.
I'm not sure such an assumption is valid.
Ukraine should accept something like that, forget about joining NATO, and fasttrack joining the EU. That would probably provide enough of a break with Russia that Russia would leave Ukraine alone after that. The U.S. should stop trying to overthrow Russia friendly governments in the region which was the principal cause of this war in the first place. That played into Russia’s paranoia to the point that Russia felt like it had to do something.
Does anyone else think that the younger Sergey Lavrov looks like Fred Gwyn?
You think that will happen?
