Researchers studying the health risks posed by gadolinium, a toxic rare earth metal used in MRI scans, have found that oxalic acid, a molecule found in many foods, can generate nanoparticles of the metal in human tissues. In a new paper, Brent Wagner, MD sought to explain the formation of the nanoparticles, which have been associated with serious health problems in the kidneys and other organs. "The worst disease caused by MRI contrast agents is nephrogenic systemic fibrosis," he said. "People have succumbed after just a single dose." The condition can cause a thickening and hardening of the skin, heart...

Upon an arrival to the emergency department for abdominal pain of unknown cause, most non-pregnant adult patients receive a CT scan with IV contrast to diagnose the source of the pain. However, IV contrast can be a risk in patients with severe kidney disease or at risk for an allergic reaction from the dye. When scans are performed without IV contrast, though, they are usually less accurate, which can lead to misdiagnosis. And recent research from the University of Michigan now confirms this: a study found choosing to withhold IV contrast from certain types of abdominal CT scans can decrease...

Inorganic nitrate reduces contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN), improves renal outcomes and reduces cardiac events compared to placebo in patients at risk of renal injury undergoing coronary angiography for acute coronary syndrome, according to research. CIN, also termed contrast associated-acute kidney injury, refers to a deterioration in renal function after contrast exposure and is a serious complication of coronary angiography. Research has suggested that nitric oxide is deficient in CIN; therefore, strategies to replace nitric oxide might be of benefit. The NITRATE-CIN trial examined the efficacy of inorganic nitrate for the prevention of CIN in patients with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome...

Moments after the story hit the wires that Gary Webb had been found dead of an apparent suicide, the radical left began hinting that the former San Jose Mercury News reporter who broke the Nicaraguan Contra-Crack Connection story had met with a more sinister fate. Alex Walker, of the San Francisco Bay Area Independent Media Center, got the conspiracy ball rolling with the help of single quotation marks and a bit of idyllic prose: They are calling it a 'suicide.' What an amazing 'coincidence' that this happens just when Our Dear Great Dumb 'Intelligence Community' is under scrutiny again. Also...

A five-day course of once-daily inorganic nitrate reduces the risk of a serious complication following a coronary angiogram, in which the dye used causes damage to the kidneys. The clinical trial also showed that the five-day course improves renal outcomes at three months and major adverse cardiac events (MACE) at one year compared to placebo. Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN), also known as contrast associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI), is an uncommon but serious complication following coronary angiography. A special dye, which is visible on X-rays, is injected into the body and when the dye reaches the coronary arteries, an X-ray is...

Ukraine plans to successfully use its new Patriot air defense systems against cruise and ballistic targets. The American surface-to-air missile system has been on combat duty in Ukraine since April 2023. Ukrainian soldiers had mastered the Patriot air defense system as fast as they could. Recently, the Ukrainian Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk conducted an inspection of the Patriot air defense system. “Modern Western equipment has its own peculiarities, but our sky defenders are quickly mastering it and are already ready to eliminate Russian invaders,” said the Lieutenant General. Oleschuk added that Patriot’s work is aimed at shooting...

Socci: "Populism of Pope on immigration is in contrast with traditional wisdom of the Catholic Church." [Note: this article does not deal with war refugees, but with those most affecting Italy at the moment, economic migrants.] The devastating populism of Pope Bergoglio on immigration is in contrast with the wisdom of the Catholic Church Antonio Socci Libero August 30, 2015 The Catholic Church and the “Bergoglio Party” are at odds also on the immigration question. Bergoglio states that there are masses of people, who, because of hunger, have the absolute and unmitigated right to emigrate to our Countries. However, if...

U.S. Senate candidate Rob Maness (R-Madisonville, LA) today launched a comparison campaign to show the contrasts between himself and the other candidates in the 2014 race. Showing the similar – and often identical – voting histories of incumbent Democrat Mary Landrieu, Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy and himself, Maness identifies Landrieu as “Blue Mary,” Cassidy as “Red Mary” and himself as “Quite Contrary,” illustrating that Cassidy’s political record makes him little more than a Republican version of the Democrat who currently holds the seat. Showing Landrieu and Cassidy’s positions on issues such as Stimulus Spending, the 2nd Amendment, Obamacare and Coastal...

.....at the intercession of President Barack Obama, that those Israelis who had barricaded themselves in a secure room were saved by the belated intervention of Egyptian security forces - who had hitherto remained passive. 75 of the defendants received a suspended one-year sentence. One defendant actually received a five-year sentence, but as he was tried in absentia, don't expect to see him behind bars soon. The events unfolded on a Friday night and I became dimly aware that something had happened the next day during the Sabbath service when Michael, whom I generally see in the synagogue only on Rosh...

With all of the disgusting news coming from the various so-called "Occupy Wall Street" functions across the country (aka "OWS"), replete with murders, rapes, public copulation, public defacation, filth, stench, attacks on police, disruption of businesses, attacking little old ladies, and various and sorted other examples of mayhem, a thought hit me. IF I was somehow "King of the Tea Party" for a day, I'd be marshaling the forces to ensure beaucoup Tea Party events ASAP. Why, you ask? Despite the ridiculously biased, lying, insipid coverage of previous Tea Party events in the past by the MSM, the contrast would...

Nancy Pelosi, press conference, September 7, 2006: [E]ven if [Osama bin Laden] is caught tomorrow, it is five years too late. He has done more damage the longer he has been out there. But, in fact, the damage that he has done ... is done. And even to capture him now I don't think makes us any safer. Nancy Pelosi, earlier today: The death of Osama bin Laden marks the most significant development in our fight against al-Qaida. ... I salute President Obama, his national security team, Director Panetta, our men and women in the intelligence community and military, and...

I'm trying to develop a list of contrasts between liberals and conservatives. The first part of each comparison is something that we conservatives know is good or admirable, and then I follow up with a contrasting item that liberals adore. Here's what I've started with: Corporations are evil but unions are virtuous.Christians are intolerant, but Muslims are peaceful.Boy Scouts are bad, but homosexuals are good.Tax cuts are wasteful, but government giveaways are stimulative.

I think that it has been well established that "conservatives" or whatever it is they call themselves these days (e.g., storm troopers) in matters concerning politics value little more than the state's power in which they imagine themselves to participate and the supposed glory that war and domestic national securitism brings to them. Now strictly speaking this is a delusion, because their only access to power lies in the accidental agreement of their opinions with those of the managers of the state. This access will evaporate as soon as the state does something that displeases our conservatives. It is always...

ARMINIUS: (By Dr. Vic Reasoner) John Wesley observed that "to say, 'this man is an Arminian,' has the same effect on many hearers, as to say, 'This is a mad dog.'"(1)Arminianism has been called "the last and greatest monster of the man of sin, the elixir of Anti-Christianism; the mystery of the mystery of iniquity, the spawn of Popery, and the varnished offspring of the old Pelagians." (2)Robert C. Harbach wrote, "Arminianism is that rejected error which has become the most insidiously devised heresy ever to lay claim to biblical support." Harbach complained that Calvinists are the most hated people...
