No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main . . . Any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. ~JOHN DONNEFor the moment, forget everything you’ve ever heard about right-to-die or right-to-life positions. Put aside the court rulings. Push out of your mind the tug-at-your-heart stories you’ve seen in the movies or read about online. Now, with no one reading your thoughts, may I ask, “Do you know when it...

I saw my first movie in several years. Death of a Nation by Dinesh D'Souza. It was an advance showing at a local theater. The movie was outstanding, entertaining and well documented as would be expected from D'Souza. I'm sure there will be a lot of Progressive/Democrat heads exploding when the film is in general release. Like many other conservative films you may have to search to find it or as a last resort buy a copy of the DVD if not show locally.

t’s easy in California to find a home, hide behind fences, cocoon in one’s abode, and come out only to travel the freeways to work. Finding community in many neighborhoods is rare. People are unlikely to know the names of more than two or three families on their street. Laughing along with sitcoms and crying at disturbing news seems to be our most common way of connecting, but it isn’t very satisfying. I’m no different, having a distant relationship with most of my neighbors. I may wave, but I get my needs met for community at my church, through professional...

The leaders of the Jewish communities of four Nordic countries said that a bill proposing to ban nonmedical circumcision in Iceland “will guarantee” that no Jewish community is established there. The presidents of the umbrella groups of Jewish communities in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland issued the unusual warning Tuesday in an open letter to all Icelandic lawmakers in reaction to the submission last month of a bill proposing to ban all nonmedical circumcision of boys younger than 18 in Iceland, a Scandinavian island nation of some 300,000 people with a few hundred Jews and Muslims. Lawmakers from four parties...

A five-alarm fire ravaged a large nursing home complex in West Chester late Thursday night into Friday morning, forcing the evacuation of more than 200 residents into 40-degree temperatures and sending an unknown number to area hospitals. At a 6:30 a.m. briefing, officials would not provide information about casualties, including whether anyone was dead or missing. They only reported that the fire was declared under control at 1:22 a.m. and that the cause is under investigation. There were no reported injuries among firefighters. Hours after the inferno at the Barclay Friends facility was declared under control, firefighters poured water on...

Though he has stayed active in politics — and reappeared on the campaign trail in New Jersey and Virginia just two weeks ago — Obama said he believes he’s up to something bigger, and thereby more curative for what he believes has gone wrong in elections. “The moment we’re in right now, politics is the tail and not the dog,” he said. “What we need to do is think about our civic culture, because what’s wrong with our politics is a reflection of something that’s wrong with the civic culture, not just in the United States but around the world.”...

LAPD Officers Join Compton Students For Father-Daughter Dance Friday was a night of celebration in Watts for dozens of young princesses. The gymnasium at Compton Avenue Elementary School magically transformed into a beautiful ballroom - all for the annual father-daughter dance. The music was thumping, feet were moving and smiles were everywhere! "I really like the fact that these beautiful ladies are being empowered. They're being shown that they are princesses in their own right, and all are individuals and all are appreciated here," father Jesse Melano said. But not all of these young ladies have a father figure in...

A Texas teen gave police a dramatic account of being abducted and gang raped by three black men earlier this month. On Tuesday, she told them it was all a hoax. On March 8, Breana Talbott, 18, entered a church bloody and wearing only a shirt, bra and underwear. She looked badly beaten. Police had been searching for her since Sam Hollingsworth, her fiancé, had called earlier that evening to report her missing, according to USA TODAY. Talbott's car was found in an apartment building parking lot with the door open, and her phone and keys were recovered nearby. The...

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida State University students and members of community organizations collaborated at FSU to make the school a safe-haven for undocumented students. The demonstrators want the FSU administration to publicly declare the university as a sanctuary campus. By doing so, demonstrators want university agencies to refuse to release the immigration status of undocumented students to Immigration or Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.

Obama’s Shadow Presidency Well-funded Organizing for Action promises to crack conservative skulls to halt the Trump agenda. Former President Obama is waging war against the Trump administration through his generously funded agitation outfit, Organizing for Action, to defend his monumentally destructive record of failure and violent polarization. It is a chilling reminder that the increasingly aggressive, in-your-face Left in this country is on the march. Acclaimed author Paul Sperry writes in the New York Post: Obama has an army of agitators — numbering more than 30,000 — who will fight his Republican successor at every turn of his historic presidency....

When former President Barack Obama said he was “heartened” by anti-Trump protests, he was sending a message of approval to his troops. Troops? Yes, Obama has an army of agitators — numbering more than 30,000 — who will fight his Republican successor at every turn of his historic presidency. And Obama will command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House.

I live in a small city (12,000 or so population) The Mayor has asked me to consider an appointment to the city Ethics Commission. He says they need people of good character and apparently he thinks I fit the bill. I've never done or considered anything like that. Outside of "Run, Run fast and far" does anyone have any advice or experience on such a commission?

According to Cain, the Trump phenomenon can be summed up in three words: "Leadership, fighter and winner." Cain, the former Republican presidential candidate, says the "Trump phenomenon" is so powerful that black women are leaving the Democratic Party to support Trump, a current Republican presidential candidate. Cain might not be that far off base, at least according to political consultant Frank Luntz, who told the online Politico page recently that Trump has a good chance of winning the black vote should he win the Republican nomination. "If he were the Republican nominee, he would get the highest percentage of black...

A Burnsville DFLer's campaign for the state House abruptly ended Sunday morning within hours of him posting on social media that ISIS "isn't necessarily evil" and is "made up of people doing what they think is best for their community." The Twitter posting Saturday by Dan Kimmel, coming as the world's emotions remain raw from Friday's terror attacks in Paris, brought swift rebuke from others on Twitter. House Minority Leader Paul Thissen, DFL-Minneapolis, called for Kimmel to give up his campaign. "I'm folding up the campaign tent," Kimmel told the Star Tribune. He later issued a written apology and called...

There’s a Way to Stop Mass Shootings, and You Won’t Like It.That’s right. You’re not going to like it because it’s going to require you to do something personally, as opposed to shouting for the government, or anyone to “do something!”You ready? Here it is:“Notice those around you who seem isolated, and engage them.”If every one of us did this we’d have a culture that was deeply committed to ensuring no one was left lonely. And make no mistake, as I’ve written before loneliness is what causes these shooters to lash out. People with solid connections to other people don’t indiscriminately...

The town where my parents grew up and where my grandparents lived no longer exists. Phillips, Texas, is a ghost town. Before that it was a company town, a more or less wholly owned subsidiary of the Phillips Petroleum Company. Phillips had already lost a great deal of its population as highway improvements sent residents off to the relative urban sophistication of Borger, and there were fewer than 2,000 people living there in 1980 when an explosion at the refinery destroyed practically all of the town’s economic infrastructure, along with a fair number of houses. Phillips, Inc., in the end...

Jihadis? Non-Muslim Leftists? No way to be sure at this point, but the scream of “F–k Jews” suggests Islamic anti-Semitism more than just opposition to Israel. However, the hatred of Jews that these men harbor almost certainly derives from “Palestinian” jihad propaganda, which is rooted in the jihad imperative to “drive them out from where they drove you out” (Qur’an 2:191) and destroy Israel utterly. “Toronto Jewish community on alert after threats by hooded men taking photos of synagogue,” by Toby Trompeter, National Post, July 28, 2015 (thanks to Stephen): TORONTO — The greater Toronto Jewish community is disquieted and...
