The kidnapping of 14-year-old Jayme Closs from her parent's Wisconsin home more than a year ago captured the nation's attention for weeks but left more questions than answers. For the first time since Jayme returned home on Jan. 10, investigators have released a trove of documents, which are shedding new light on her parents' brutal murder in their home and her 88-day captivity. Up until this point, her ordeal remained a mystery to anyone outside the Closs family and law enforcement. Thousands of investigative reports released by the Wisconsin Department of Justice on Friday revealed disturbing details about the three-month...

LAKE HALLIE, Wis. (FOX 9) - Authorities say the murders of four people in two separate shootings in western Wisconsin over the weekend may have been an attempt to copy the abduction of 13-year-old Jayme Closs last fall. Sunday night, law enforcement officers learned two people were found dead and two more were injured at a home in Lake Hallie. A short time later, three more people were found dead in a duplex in the nearby town of Lafayette. The suspected shooter was among the dead. Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk identified the suspected shooter in all four murders as...

In late March, Jake Thomas Patterson, 21, of Gordon, Wisconsin, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and one kidnapping. This was just five months after authorities discovered Jayme’s parents, James and Denise Closs, shot to death in the family’s Barron, Wisconsin, home, and realized the...

Missing teen Jayme Closs was found alive and a suspect is in custody, the Barron County Sheriff's Department reported on its Facebook page Thursday night. Jayme vanished early Oct. 15 when sheriff’s deputies, responding to a 911 call, found the door to her family’s home near Barron kicked in. Her parents, James, 56, and Denise, 46, were found shot to death, but Jayme was missing. She had not been seen or heard from since. The Sheriff's Department was notified earlier Thursday evening by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office that it had located Jayme, 13, a student at Riverview Middle School...

It’s been 25 days since Jayme Closs disappeared, and her parents were killed... They are focused on forensic testing. For the last week, Wisconsin’s crime lab has tested 40 pieces of potential evidence a day. “As of now we just don’t have any good physical evidence either which is another frustrating part of this case,” Sheriff Fitzgerald said. That includes already 80 pieces of separate videos or pictures from homes and businesses along Highway 8 from that night. Investigators have also kept a close eye on social media. As Facebook groups pop up, Fitzgerald says investigators check every post.
