A man charged with kidnapping a 13-year-old Wisconsin girl and killing her parents has pleaded guilty during an arraignment Wednesday. Patterson has entered a guilty plea for three counts: two counts of intentional homicide and one count of kidnapping. A count of armed burglary was dropped. The intentional homicide counts carry a sentence of life in prison. According to a criminal complaint released at the time, 21-year-old Jake Patterson told authorities that he decided "to take" Jayme Closs after seeing her getting on a school bus near her home.

The suspect accused of killing James and Denise Closs and kidnapping their 13-year-old daughter, Jayme, first spotted her when he was on his way to work, as she was getting into a school bus, according to a criminal complaint released Monday by the Barron County District Attorney. "The defendant states, when he saw (Jayme) he knew that was the girl he was going to take," the complaint states. It’s been 25 days since Jayme Closs disappeared, and her parents were killed... They are focused on forensic testing. For the last week, Wisconsin’s crime lab has tested 40 pieces of potential evidence a day. “As of now we just don’t have any good physical evidence either which is another frustrating part of this case,” Sheriff Fitzgerald said. That includes already 80 pieces of separate videos or pictures from homes and businesses along Highway 8 from that night. Investigators have also kept a close eye on social media. As Facebook groups pop up, Fitzgerald says investigators check every post.
