Pastors can do very much to get out the Christian vote. They have a captive audience in their churches every Sunday so why not take advantage of that in a way that is totally legal. Several weeks before the election just do a sermon on the Christian duty of patriotism. Yes, patriotism is a Christian virtue. Christians are called to be faithful stewards and looking out for our children's future is part of that duty. Also being responsible with the public's money is also a very important duty of being a Christian. We have a duty to winnow out the...

While some of the most notable commands from God are “you shall have no other gods before me” and “you shall not murder,” it seems that evangelical historian John Fea has discovered another divine decree: “thou shalt not vote for Donald Trump.” On June 24th, The Atlantic published an article by Fea with the headline “Evangelical Fear Elected Trump.” In the piece, Fea, the author of the book Believe Me: The Evangelical Road to Donald Trump, offered his explanation for why 81% of evangelicals voted for the current president – and claimed that the “fear” which motivated his fellow believers...

White and Christian voters are abandoning the Democratic Party, according to a remarkable new analysis of political party demographics. The Pew Research Center found that there is now a 29-point white gap, the largest ever between the GOP and Democrats. According to the new analysis, "non-Hispanic whites make up 57 percent of all Democratic and Democratic-leaning registered voters, down significantly from 76 percent in 1992. By contrast, though the share of GOP voters who are white also has declined since 1992, the change has been much more modest: Currently, 86 percent of Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters are non-Hispanic whites,...

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz began his 2016 presidential bid with an impassioned appeal to the religious right on Monday, exhorting a cheering crowd at the world's largest Christian college to "join a grassroots army across this nation coming together and standing for liberty." "God's blessing has been on America from the very beginning of this nation, and I believe God isn't done with America yet," he said. "I believe in you. I believe in the power of millions of courageous conservatives rising up to reignite the promise of America, and that is why today, I'm announcing that I'm running for...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK) Senator Ted Cruz has made his presidential wishes official, with Cruz’s speech streaming live on ABC News and other news outlets as of this writing, with Senator Ted reaching deep into the belief system that he says changed his life and included his parents’ belief in Christ. During the speech, Cruz related how his father and mother were drinking way too much alcohol when he was a young boy, and at one point, his dad decided he would leave the family — deserting his young son and wife. However, being invited to a Bible study changed Cruz’s father’s life,...

According to a Global Survey from Ipsos MORI, Americans think 56 percent of the country is Christian, when it is actually closer to 78 percent, and 15 percent of the country is Muslim, when it’s really just 1 percent.

Ed Morrisseyflagged this Politico piece earlier but I want to pay special attention to Huck's comments. Gabe Malor called BS on them on Twitter this morning. I think he's right. Huckabee's latest shot across the party establishment's bow: “The last two presidential elections, we had more moderate candidates, so if anything a lot of conservatives went to the polls reluctantly or just didn’t go at all,” said Huckabee in a separate interview. “If all of the evangelicals had showed up, it may have made a difference.”…Huckabee, like Santorum, was a bit incredulous at the attempt to fault social conservatives when...

He signed a bill that allows for the murder of babies for only $50! He believes that homosexuality is not a sin! He wrote and authored Obama-Care and hand delivered it to Barack Obama himself with instructions on how to shove it down the collective throat of America. He is a cult member and is on the side of Satan himself! And this is only the beginning of what I am hearing from the Christian right, regarding Governor Mitt Romney or " Mittens " as they call him. Alright, I confess; I did stretch my blanket a bit on the hand delivered...

President Obama is struggling to get to 50% — not just of voters in November -- but of Americans, at any time, who will recognize that he is a Christian. The Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion and Public Life released a survey Thursday showing that just 49% of Americans described the president as a Christian, while 17% said they believed he was Muslim. Just before the 2008 election, a majority, 55%, described then-candidate Obama’s faith as Christian, while just 12% said he was Muslim.

Obama Could Have An In Among White Evangelicals A recent gathering of religious leaders in Ohio indicates that churches don't necessarily march in lock step with the Republican Party. But certain social issues could still make it a tough sell for the president. By Mitchell Landsberg May 19, 2012 CINCINNATI — The Rev. Chris Beard is a theological conservative, make no mistake about it. He believes the Bible is the word of God. He believes the Holy Spirit speaks to him directly. He believes, as an article of faith, that abortion and same-sex marriage are wrong. Still, when a group...

A non-profit group in liberal Silicon Valley is seeking to register 5 million new Christian conservative voters from across the country, who according to its research, can decide the 2012 presidential election and bring the biblical worldview to the forefront of American life and politics. Of the estimated 60 million Christians in the United States, only 30 million vote in any given election. The rest do not realize the power they hold in one single vote, says United in Purpose, a group backed by a few Silicon Valley venture capitalists that is running a project caklled “Champion the Vote.” The...

RICHMOND, Va.—There's no shortage of polls underscoring America's sour mood these days. Surveys generally show that 7 in 10 Americans say the country is headed in the wrong direction and that most Americans believe their leaders in Washington are doing a poor job. U.S. News led the way in explaining this trend with a recent special report on why Americans think Washington is broken and what can be done about it. If anything, the warning signs are getting gloomier. A new focus group of Republican voters from the Richmond area, conducted last Thursday evening, was a case in point. All...

The Brody File just got off the phone with a prominent Evangelical leader who has come to know Fred Thompson. He told me that he's very impressed with him and so are other Evangelical leaders. This leader didn't want to be identified because now is not the time to go public but suffice to say that he seems to be on board with the Fred Thompson campaign. Let me summarize some other points this person told me. He's been "pleasantly surprised with Thompson's knowledge on key issues", issues that are important to Evangelicals. Though he doesn't believe Thompson will necessarily...

Faith Factor Proves Key in U.S. ElectionsWednesday, November 03, 2004 By Sam KastensmidtIn an election that recorded the highest rate of voter turnout since the controversial 1968 Presidential election (Richard Nixon vs. Hubert Humphrey), President George W. Bush has been reelected with the highest number of popular votes in U.S. history. Amidst this flood of voters, pollsters have been thoroughly surprised by the number one issue cited by American voters — “moral issues.” The “Values Vote” Drives Results The morning following the election, the Washington Post summed up the Bush victory. “The Bush campaign super-charged the ‘moral minority.’ Exit polls showed...

Ye shall find him under a big star: (OK, that one’s a stretch, but I’m working on a theme…) Crucified with two common criminals by his side: (Stretch #2) (Well, since this photo was taken in Zaprudervision, it might be a JFK thing, but that’s the same as God to the liberal mindset.)

This voter’s guide helps you cast your vote in an informed manner consistent with Christian moral teaching. It helps you avoid choosing candidates who endorse policies that cannot be reconciled with moral norms that used to be held by all Christians. On most issues that come before voters or legislators, the task is selecting the most effective strategy among several possibilities. A Christian can take one side or the other and not act contrary to the faith. Many matters are debatable and do not have a single, clear “Christian position.” But some issues concern “non-negotiable” moral principles that do not admit...

It goes without saying that pouring lighter fluid on an already raging fire is a prescription for disaster. Yet that's just what state Conservative Party head Mike Long is doing with the always-incendiary issue of religion and politics.

Long is not the only one raising the explosive accusation of anti-Catholic bigotry against Sen. Chuck Schumer, of course. Fortunately, though, he's done it so inartfully that maybe, in this case, the damage can be limited.
