California police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to attack a 13-year-old girl but ended up with a broken ankle after she fought him off with jiu-jitsu. The incident unfolded on May 6 at Carmel-by-the-Sea as the girl was walking home, according to Michael Blackburn, her jiu-jitsu instructor, who spoke with KSBW-TV. “Halfway home, a gentleman was standing in between two cars, and he stepped out to punch her in the face,” said Blackburn. Legendary coach John Madden had a statue of himself unveiled today in front of Bruno's Market and Deli in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Organizers say it will serve as a lasting tribute to the iconic coach and broadcaster who would frequently visit the deli while he lived in Carmel. The project took nearly a year to complete.

<p>Sothebys Realty confirmed with KION that Betty White's Carmel-by-the-Sea home has sold for $2.5 million above the asking price.</p><p>The home was listed for $7.95 million but was ultimately sold for $10.775 million.</p><p>White's Brentwood home is still up for sale at $10.575 million.</p>

Crews continue to restore the Carmel Mission Museum after the restoration project started in November 2020. They're renovating and repairing the courtyard in front of the famous Basilica, which was restored back in 2013. Stephanie Zelei, executive director of Carmel Mission Foundation, talked to KSBW about the work that's being done. "Remedying the drainage issues that are affecting the foundation of the basilica...
