Most Americans want law and order. When a peaceful protest turns into a riot – storefronts smashed, fires lit, and police under attack – something has to be done. Fast. And while law enforcement has a toolbox of non-lethal methods, one old-school tool that’s mostly been shelved in the U.S. deserves a second look: water cannons. Now, I get it. Some folks hear “water cannon” and think of black-and-white photos from the 1960s, with peaceful civil rights protesters being blasted in Birmingham. That image stuck with America, and for good reason. But today’s reality is very different. We’re talking about...

During a 14-week ‘train the trainer’ course taught at a frozen military base in Boden, Swedish Lapland, the Swedish School of Artillery instructed British gunners from Larkhill, Wiltshire, on how to fire the Swedish-made Archer howitzer systems. Defence Equipment and Support – the UK Ministry of Defence’s procurement arm – acquired 14 Archer systems from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration for the Royal Artillery, whose 32 AS90 Braveheart howitzers were donated to Ukraine prior to the new acquisition. In October 2023, the first of Britain’s Archer systems had arrived in the UK just six months after the Government signed the...

Do Second Amendment “Arms” Include Cannons? I would appreciate any additional materials that anyone may have. “Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people.” -Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788 “The word ‘arms’ in the connection we find it in the Constitution of the United States, refers to the...

It’s probably wise not to shoot cannons with this guy. Even a cannon this small is an issue if you don’t adhere to safety protocols. Witness the worst cannon shooter ever, and be glad you were not nearby. I guess this fellow forgot just how dangerous black powder really is. Loading up a tiny cannon for backyard fun is a great way to spend the Labor day weekend. However, it is generally a good idea to keep open bottle of black powder a little farther away there, genius. The cannon fires and a spark drops down the funnel, straight into...

SIERRA VISTA — All but one of the loose dogs recovered by local police or animal control officers and sent to the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center around the 4th of July holiday have been reunited with their owners. The local animal shelter saw a significant uptick in the number of dogs brought into the shelter around the holiday, most likely due to becoming scared and panicked by the detonation of fireworks, said Arleen Garcia, animal control supervisor for Sierra Vista. By Wednesday, four of the 10 dogs had already been reunited with their owners, who were easily notified...

My Clif-Notes version first: 2nd (second) Amendment & See Article I, Section 8, paragraph 11 and the founders had both weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION (canons) and equal to today 2014, A-K 47’s FULLY AUTO in their personal possession, i.e., their superior hunting rifle’s. Although not FULLY AUTO, they did have in their possession the MOST ADVANCE[D] RIFLE’S of the time 1775-6. Oh, and those ADVANCE[D] RIFLE’S were used for hunting, both duck’s & British.

An elderly man deployed six homemade cannons around his home to prevent it from being demolished. Zhou Jianbang set the dummy weapons up after watching neighbors’ houses torn down allegedly without consent. Mr. Zhou insisted his cannons would not have caused any harm and civil police in Xingyang, Henan, central China, confirmed he had not broken any laws. …

It's not exactly a process that goes off with a bang. More than three years after a Portland-area girl and her dad found a pair old cannons on the beach in Arch Cape, restoration on one of the cannons is finally finished and work has begun on the other. It's slow-going for sure, but patience has paid off in a number of clues to the first gun's origins. Tualatin beachcombers Miranda Petrone and her father, Michael Petrone, found the cannons in February 2008. Oregon Parks and Recreation took possession of the old guns, storing them in water tanks, then driving...

Police infiltrating protest groups BY DARYL KHAN AND ROCCO PARASCANDOLA STAFF WRITERS August 11, 2004 The Police Department has been watching protest groups that have used unlawful tactics in the past in hopes of controlling disruptive activities at the Republican National Convention, police sources say. Officers masquerading as corporate-bashing Bush haters have been attending rallies and meetings to learn the groups' tactics and plans for the upcoming convention, which begins Aug. 30, the sources say. "Our guys got in there without them knowing it," one source said. "It helps us keep track of what they're doing." Police have, in the...

(Our pal, Camber, the old son-of-a-gun, found this one in his email box. It's been circulating on the net. Is it myth?) In the heyday of sailing ships, all war ships and many freighters carried iron cannons. Those cannon fired round iron balls. It was necessary to keep a good supply near the cannon. But how to keep them from rolling about the deck....?(snip) Click here to read complete article.
