This Post has the most recent UPDATE of the devastating Floods in Brisbane, Australia's third largest city. There are links to the latest news media releases from the major sources. There is also a link to one of the most harrowing videos to emerge from the flood, video footage taken with a mobile phone of what happened in the Lockyer Valley when the huge wall of water roared through the area. The video is graphic by nature and shows the rawest of emotions from people who think they are about to die.

This latest UPDATE contains the most recent news from the Brisbane Floods. After the link, see the first link I have to a truly amazing interactive image of the flood zone. This image shows the flood on the river, and is similar to a Google Earth Map, only it makes Google Earth look like a child's painting in comparison. Read the instructions very carefully. The clean up is well under way with tens of thousands of people flocking into the city from everywhere to help in the clean up.

This is a further UPDATE of this massive flood disaster in Brisbane, the third largest city in Australia. This Update has links to the latest news articles, image galleries and videos. There is also an amazing interactive image gallery of 13 images that show before and during the flood on the same image as you scroll the mouse across it. The clean up is starting but thousands of homes are still under water, and some may be without electrical power for weeks. People are moving back into the CBD but only to clean up.

This is the most recent news from the devastating flood crisis in Brisbane. This Post is a consolidated Post where I have the latest UPDATES, and links to previous Posts on the flood crisis, both in Brisbane, in Rockhampton, where I live, the scene of earlier, and continuing flood drama, and around the wider State of Queensland. At the post are the latest links to news media stories which have links to videos and image galleries. There is also a link to a huge interactive gigapan image of the flood in Brisbane. I also discuss further the continuing role of...

This is the fourth UPDATE of this terrible disaster. Brisbane residents woke this morning to scenes reminiscent of a war zone. Thankfully the peak was a little lower than expected, but hundreds of thousands of people are now homeless. This post has links to the latest media releases, videos, and image galleries. I also explain the role of the huge mega dam, and how without this dam, the tragedy would have been even more unspeakable.

This is the Fourth, and most recent UPDATE for this Post. It mentions some of the most recent happenings in what is being described as the worst natural disaster in Australia's history. At the post are links to the most recent news reports with videos, related stories, and image galleries. The major flood peak is expected at the first high tide at 4AM local time, three hours from now.

This has the latest Updates from what is now obviously the greatest natural disaster in Australia's history as the third largest city in Australia is gradually going under in this massive flood. The CBD is a ghost city, and so far nearly 140,000 consumers have had their electricity turned off. There's been rushes on now empty supermarkets. We have been told that the worse is still to come as king tides on Thursday will raise the level even higher. This is a disaster of astronomical proportions. I have links to local and national media with video, related stories, and image...

This Post now has an UPDATE with the latest news from this terrible disaster, which could end up becoming Australia's worst natural disaster. There are links to some graphic videos and links to major news media outlets in Brisbane with stories on what is happening there right now. The inflows into the monster Wivenhoe Dam, now at 200% are gradually getting back to the stage where they are releasing around the same amount of water that is flowing into the dam. All this water flows directly through Brisbane, where flood levels are expected to go beyond the 1974 levels. What...

Brisbane, the capital city of the State of Queensland in Australia, is now being smashed by what could be the worst natural disaster in Australia's history. All reports say that this could be worse than the huge 1974 flood. The huge dams cannot hold back what is a truly immense amount of water flooding into the river that flows through the capital. There's links to news for a number of sources at this Post, and some background on that huge dam, that is now close to 200% full and pouring water down the spillway at the rate of 160 Billion...

The flood crisis in Queensland in Australia has moved from bad to worse. The latest city to be hammered is Toowoomba, which sits on top of the Mountain Range about 70 miles to the West of Brisbane, the State Capital. This is a special report from Andrew Bolt with some pretty graphic videos. What needs to be realised here is that these are the main streets through the centre of the City. The floods came up not slowly, but in a matter of minutes. I have also included a link to a gallery of images as well. In the Lockyer...
  • Rockhampton Flood Crisis – Attack Of The Blood Suckers

Some International media reports about these catastrophic floods in Rockhampton mentioned that crocodiles might be washed into peoples homes. Some Australian media reports have mentioned that there is an influx of deadly venomous snakes coming down with the flood waters and these might be washed into homes. The major biting threat to a lot of Rockhampton residents is a tiny little thing called a sandfly, no bigger than a tiny flea. You don't even realise one of these tiny little blood suckers has bitten you until a couple of hours later when you start to itch like crazy, and the...
  • Rockhampton Flood Crisis – Flood Peak Arrives – Life Goes On

I mentioned in one of the earlier Posts that the area in Queensland under water was around the combined size of Texas and Oklahoma. Now even bigger, add in New Mexico to that size. All 9 Rivers in the Fitroy River Basin have been in major flood, the first time in recorded history. Now 12 days since those heavy rains started across this wide State, the flood peak has finally reached Rockhampton where I live. It has already been at major levels now for those 12 days and has been gradually creeping up. The devastation from inundation is horrendous and...
  • The Rockhampton Flood Crisis – The Fitzroy River Barrage

While this flood crisis disaster is still happening here in Rockhampton, this Post canvasses the role of engineering for something like this, and also looks at the Fitzroy River Basin in general. The maximum flood peak is yet to be reached here in Rockhampton, and once that reaches us, the inundation will last for fourteen days or more in a city of 75,000 already totally cut off now.
  • Queensland Australia Flood Disaster Central – Rockhampton

The flood disaster focus in Queensland Australia moves to Rockhampton on the Fitzroy River, where I live. The flood peak is expected to arrive on Tuesday, and, now higher than originally expected by more than one metre, will make this the second worst flood disaster on recorded, the worst being in 1918. In a city of 75,000, so far 4,000 homes have been evacuated with many more to come. What is hard to comprehend is that in this State of Queensland alone, the area under flood waters is equal to the combined area of Texas and Oklahoma. I live on...

Currently in Queensland Australia, there is a significant and major flood event. This is not a localised flood, but one covering most of the Eastern part of a State which is more than double the size of Texas. The flood is centred around Rockhampton where I live, and here I detail some of the effects in our local area and also some in the wider areas to the South and West of here. I have also included a slide show of local images in this Post.
  • Cancun Climate Conference – U.N. Proposes Rationing …..Everything!

One of the first media releases to come out of the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference in Cancun Mexico is that we need to go through a period of rationing everything with a high Carbon content (I think they really mean Carbon Dioxide.) The same statement said the only way to reduce global emissions enough is to halt economic growth in the rich world over the next twenty years. I wonder if they actually thought those things through before releasing this statement.

Ever increasing numbers of Wind and Solar Power Plants are actually causing an increase in the emissions of CO2 from other power plants, most notably, natural gas fired power plants. The most current and almost real time data proves this conclusively. This is another part in the continuing monthly series that proves these two forms of renewable power most favored are not delivering power for when it is required, absolutely, 24/7/365. Because of that, those other plants are being tasked to take up the slack, and in fact to work harder. The increase in CO2 emissions from them is not...

How does one ton of coal produce 2.86 tons of Carbon Dioxide? Think for a minute about the psychology of this Climate Change religion. Those pushing this one sided argument ask you to believe the most complex Science, and then to accept that Science on faith. However, what lies at the very root of their whole argument, those original emissions from coal fired power plants, directly relates to Science we all learned in our first year at High School. If that sounds so unbelievable, why do people who agree with those pursuing the debate have such faith in complex Science,...
  • New House Speaker John Boehner To Travel By Commercial Flights

    PA Pundits International ^ | 13 November 2010 | TonyfromOz
Presumptive House Speaker John Boehner says he will use commercial flights to and from House duties in Washington from his home District instead of the USAF executive jet aircraft Nancy Pelosi used. Introduced as a security measure following September 11, Nancy has a history in this area, using these top of the line C-37A (Gulfstream V) as her own private air force, and it's good to see the new Speaker allowing the Air Force to get back to its core duties. We have added a slideshow facility to this Post to show images of the aircraft and the hardships Nancy...

While in Australia, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton got together with Prime Minister Julia Gillard and made a wonderful announcement about how they would be striving to get Solar Power plants to a level where they can compete with current conventional Power Plants. To make these Solar Photovoltaic plants competitive, all they need to do is pass legislation to make the Sun shine directly over these plants for the full 24 hours of every day.
