The flood disaster focus in Queensland Australia moves to Rockhampton on the Fitzroy River, where I live. The flood peak is expected to arrive on Tuesday, and, now higher than originally expected by more than one metre, will make this the second worst flood disaster on recorded, the worst being in 1918. In a city of 75,000, so far 4,000 homes have been evacuated with many more to come. What is hard to comprehend is that in this State of Queensland alone, the area under flood waters is equal to the combined area of Texas and Oklahoma. I live on the North side, barely 2 miles from the River, and fortunately for me, all the effects are on the South side of the River. The flood waters will be hanging around at these high levels for anything up to 14 days in a City totally cut off. At my Post I have included some images, a small slide show, and further links to local media articles which also have slide shows, and some video clips as well.
..we do business with a company in West Burleigh near the Q & NSW border, on the coast. Any flooding in that area?
Hope all works out for everyone there.
That is a shame. I really like that town.
Keeping you all in our prayers for safety! We have kin in Sydney, don’t think this affects them, but it’s pretty scary for those going through the floods and their aftermaths.
The area flooded is roughly equal to Wisconsin, Iowa,
Illinois,
Pennsylvania,
Ohio.
Kentucky,
Indiana
I will pray for you and your country FRiend.
